Hi everyone,

I joined the 5+ group with Abu Jimmy leading, and experienced real "soft land", being in my usual "pick up" place at the back of the group.

We had a good pace, with only a few crestings and one pop out. Other than that, the convoy was moving along nicely, and I enjoyed the drive. Thanks to Abu Jimmy for making the small dunes enjoyable and for challenging the group with a few sharp crests.

It was a beautiful morning with awesome weather, and good company!

Till next time.

What a terrible of the day which was only expected to bring pleasure! I live in Downtown and I estimated that the travel time to the meeting point would be 30 minutes + 10 minutes budgeted for fuel station. Left the parking at 6.20 only to find that both ends of the street were closed due to the run event. At first the staff on one end directed me to go to another end and once I got there the gentlemen told me the same. Then they said they would call the ‘manager’. I do not know if they did call, but they said I needed to go home and stay there until 10 am. One neigbour was on the way to the airport, but could not get any transport to take him there. This was not a joke anymore as it was 6.45 already and I had enough. Eventually I went back to the underground parking and took a different exit. That exit was also blocked, but at least I could drive through the dust bowl to escape the forced trap. I am happy that municipality and Emaar take care of my well-being so much as they wanted me to have additional 4 hour of sleep. I finally made it to the meeting point where I met many new faces. The drive area was familiar to me and it is really great area to drive. I was assigned to assist in - 5 convoy. The rescue was stationed after every 4 cars and at first I felt jealous that Daggerfall had many more customers than me and Solmaz. Gladly my turn to help came later in the drive when I assisted twice. The later recovery by Bu Salem was very educating when he pulled the car out of the bowl from the opposite direction. As always great drive where everybody got what they desired for!

A huge group showed up at the meeting point and everyone was treated to coffee and cake, thanks to this being alshamsi_m's birthday celebration (Happy birthday alshamsi_m and many more drives to come). - Nice gesture guys..
We moved to the deflating point and were split into three groups. I was assigned to @bu_salem's / zico (10+) group and placed in the middle of the convoy with momo as sweeper.
We moved through the beautiful virgin & trackless desert landscape. The sand was soft at places and only a few areas were wet from the rains the day before. The dunes were not high but could be tricky with small deep bowls. The convoy moved with a constant pace; no recoveries recoveries required only a few second tries. The distance between the cars was not alway kept, so at times we had some big gaps between the cars causing the convoy to disconnect once or twice.
In summary a fun drive with beautiful scenery and another good example on Almost4x4 family values.
Thanks to all the leaders for another great drive at a great location with Almost 4x4.

Hello Everyone

First of all, I would like to thank Mo Sh and hamzahng for the surprise cake It was very nice HONEY CAKE :yaeh am not durnk:.

Secondly,

The drive

We had Three Convoys Convoy 5- was lead by Rashidjass , Convoy 5+ was lead by Abu Jimmy annd Convoy 10+ was lead by @triq son of ( zico ) . I was in the lucky one which was lead by Rashid. Our leading marshal gave us a very nice track which gave our members the chance to learn how to cross a dune, keep the right distance deal with soft terrain and he executed it perfectly .

Our rescue team were Daggerfall, orlantsev and Solmaz " Sweeper " did a great job and I think they had very good tips how to deal with moderated situations. The Sand was so fresh and I'm happy that we chose this area where you can still enjoy fresh sand.

Thanks for all for making this trip another successful event by ALMOST4X4.

See you soon

P.S : Solmaz you can claim your RESCUE key chain because you deserve it by pulling me from the stuck :yarr:

alshamsi_m I am glad that you liked our little surprise cake, but KIMOz, Smoke, momo, and BAT were a part of the Cake and Donuts Team So we should thank them also.

Last Friday we had an amazing trip, The weather was just Super Amazing. There were a lot of people, some were new faces to me. I almost cancelled the trip because I had some work commitments, but then I managed to leave work at 6 am, Go to the trip, and Go back to work afterwards.

in the beginning we had a small surprise birthday party where we shared Cakes, Donuts, and Coffee with everyone. then we moved to the deflating point @ al qudra at witch we were divided into 3 convoys (-5) (+5) (+10). I was with zico's Convoy (10+) where we got the chance to meet his son Tarik.

overall the drive was great, no recoveries, but with few second tries here and there.

Special thanks for all the marshals for making this trip happen, and see you next weekend in the sand.
