I believe so, although i was so busy chatting about Jeeps that i did not see well. If i'm not mistaken the rear right tire had 3 small cuts on the inside. Tire was not torn apart, but these relatively small 'cuts' are sure enough to get the spare out. I'm sure Momo and the more Expert Bu Salem can elaborate more.

I believe so, although i was so busy chatting about Jeeps that i did not see well. If i'm not mistaken the rear right tire had 3 small cuts on the inside. I think, I know what you mean, we had such cuts already in the past.

Weather conditions and play area made of this trip a unique experience over the year. Dunes and flying sand were beautiful to watch as well as the flying sand while cleaning the engine air filter after the drive :005:
I was concerned about how to heat the tasty pasta prepared at home for my lunch, with that storm no stove would spit fire... Then my stomach felt more comfortable when finding a microwave in a petrol station. :whistle: Next time I will check the weather forecast.

Regarding my rear right tire issue, I think I had pop-out or flat tire before I cut it from the inside pressing it with the shock absorber bracket... I think Cooper Discoverer HT are fragile tires that need a special driving style with optimum pressure and avoid as much as possible bumps and bushes. Here is a video might be helpful to understand.

I think you did drive over the grass, it can be seen, at 0:22 and this was your root of cause. It has nothing to do with the tyre. This is an improper FJ rear suspension mount. We had such a case several times, but mostly when the tyre was drifting on the side of the slope.

Going over the reports, the video of the cut tire, and the visuals provided by CHIEF [MENTION=955]caprihorse[/MENTION]....I'm wondering if this could be an issue among JK as well or is it just FJ? Seeing CHIEF said it's an improper FJ rear suspension mount, would like to know if it would be the same reason in JK or it can be something else - like the pinch seam that points a bit too close to the rear tires!
I've been thinking of cutting the pinch seam because it always stays in the back of my mind when offroading!

It looks dangerous, right? Normally tyre movements are vertical, so there should not be any danger of the cut and we never had this case. Potential danger would be if you install tyres with bigger diameter as 16". Additionally your "knife" is pointing towards tyre surface, not to tyre sidewall, where surface is very resistant to cuts.

Hmmm....interesting. I think it's more of a peace of mind to cut it, just to relax my thoughts! If it doesn't have any specific job of course
