First of all i was late a bit so pushing my TJ as far as i can to reach and join. I reached and relaxed to see the almosters still at the shops so parked and started deflation. Team Turco gathered to help me to speed up but don't ask me how, in the panic, we somehow locked the doors of the jeep while the key is on and car is working. The only key :)
The convoy started to move, i was thinking what to do. tuba decided to stay with me for any kind of help so big thanks to her. She played the key role :) We decided to remove the spare (with the help of the guys at the shops), then disassemble the spare holder and the trunk window is open. From the narrow gap over the seat, tuba entered inside and unlocked the doors. We reinstall the holder and spare and were ready to go. Deciding to try to join the convoy, tuba received the coordinate from jcncurtis as where they are and we started heading towards. A short solo drive with a fast pace i was going, at one point i did not realize the steep fall and that was a bit harsh... anyway we were ok so continued our way. Found the convoy, informed Bu Salem and went to Yoghybear to ask if i can still join or not. Kindly he accepted me so i got relaxed that everything was settled. With the announce on the radio "let's move!" i checked my dashboard and what??? Overheat??? Really??? I announced on the radio that it seems i won't be able to continue. Then Adnan came for help. We opened the hood, and saw there is no coolant in the reservoir. Probably with that harsh fall i lost my coolant as the cap was open. Adnan sprayed some water on the radiator and filled the reservoir (never leave to desert with out water stock), the a/c was on hot and full and temperature started to drop. He said it is ok now so i can continue. Before moving he said remove your glasses. I got stunned to understand what he mean. Adnan repeated. I thought there is something wrong i guess which i don't realize. Anyway i removed and he sprayed water to my face and said "That's the best" :)) 100% agreed. We drove together and caught the convoy.

When we joined and stopped due to a suffer i realized that my flag pole is gone. It seemed somebody high above chose me to have fun for the day (or Friday 13th i don't know) I requested to be the last car on the convoy for the reason. Al Shamsi told us to continue and he will check for my flag. He found it?? How... and wow :) I could not find the right words to thank him. You might get surprised but yes after all of these i did not have any problems and the drive was wonderful, fun and educating. After we finish we joined the -5 convoy and headed back to shops.

Thank you Adnan for your assistance, by your help i was able to continue. Thank you Bu Salem for my flag pole. Thanks Yoghybear for the lead, and all the members in the convoy for the fun drive. See you all next time...

This trip was having a different taste as we were driving over high dunes, soft sand and being lead by YoughyBear, Sweeped by Busalem and rescued by Adnan. Really guys this drive was full of fun, joy and learning more things. At the beginning the weather was unbelievable as if the air was heated in an oven before reaching us. Everybody was saying that the Sun is beating us instead of us beating the sunset.. lol. So as soon as I arrived I heard flying rumors about deflating although in the PM it was mentioned not to deflate at the meeting point as we will drive 13 km on the tarmac. Thus I cross check with Abu jimmy and found that it’s true that we need to deflate. I deflated, fixed the flag pole and was ready for flying :D. We had a small chit chat then Busalem and Abu Jimmy called all the drivers to check the registry and set the two convoys (5- &5+). After that the 5- guys left and we waited sometimes then we lined up our toys.

The drive was very cool (contradicting to the weather :P) and was going smoothly. I was driving the fourth car in the convoy and it was very enjoyable to drive through big dunes and soft sand in some areas. Some stucks and self-recoveries were ongoing. During this drive I did two mistakes in which I felt guilty after one of them, it was shifting to the second gear while climbing one of the dunes, I felt the car lost its torque which it was gaining and I had to turn and go down the dune to avoid fighting gravity, I guess Busalem realized that thing as he was watching us. The second mistake was trying to climb a dune while I was in a static position at the beginning of the dune due to a stuck in front of me. Of course the car couldn’t make it and I heard a very funny comment from Busalem saying “ Kimoz…do you think that you are driving a buggy ?!!!! LOL”. So I had to reverse to gain momentum and climbed.

We reached iftar bowl and had a round in the bowl, but the most amazing part was driving through the big bowl which I named it as spinning bowl :P. Every car was spinning inside and exit after the spin. I was feeling as if I am in a roller-coaster especially before exiting in which I couldn’t see anything other than the sand, so the adrenalin was very high :P . After that we drove to the super bowl and had I nice long break there during which we met the 5- convoy and watched the marshals were flooring it for climbing :D. The weather at that time was amazing and attracting everybody to stay especially for Shisha lovers to have some breathes of shesha in that weather :D

Finally the two convoys were joined together and headed back to the meeting point (Badayer shops) via area number 53. The distance that we travelled in sand was 34.87km and it took us 2 hours 51 minutes including the stop. At last but not the least, I would like to really thank all the marshals specially Busalem, Youghybear and Abu Jimmy for arranging such a great day and also thanks Adnan for your rescuing :D.

See you all soon in SAND.
Cheers.

Bad luck after the Jeep performed so well on the drive. Was it the engine or transmission?

Hope it is something minor and you will be able to join on Friday. Good luck!

Mark

PS. The new rubber and rims look great.
