It was a pleasant morning, hit the roads while the Sun was still waking up. A nice and peaceful drive till the weather decided to give us all a feel of the desert on the roads by throwing sands all around us.
Reached the meeting/camp point and was greeted there by all the smiling faces. It was indeed a very long time since I had meet the Almost family and it actually felt like a re-union :)
Once everyone was ready to get into the action. All drivers were divided in 2 Groups, 1 for @alshamsi_m to take the lead and the other for @ALKHATIB.
I was in Alshamsi's convoy along with @Daggerfall @KIMOz @orlantsev @desert_jellyfish @Defragmantor, @Mazaaj as rescue @Hockey as sweep
Everyone was given a brief on the drive route and the possible exits depending on time.
We were warned at the start, BEWARE OF THE DROPS AND SORRY FOR THE TRUCKS:melt:. This sentence gave us a hint of what was coming up for us.
The drive was over all a very nice and challenging one with the blowing sand reducing visibility greatly.
I had lost my number plate somewhere close to the start. Thanks to @Hockey for going back to get it while we fixed a pop out.
2 pop outs, few stucks (Yea 1 was mine)
and a few second tries.
I really enjoyed the drive and am sure everyone else enjoyed it, as everyone was very happy at the end of the drive as we inflated.
It was another long drive back home again on road covered with sand :secret laugh:
My family did not miss the sand either, coz I got enough for them back home with me
And now time to hit the car wash and get the evilish look of the staff there once they see what is waiting for them inside the car.... A WHOLE LOAD OF SAND.
Pics of the drive to be uploaded soon.
Tc till next week and see you all at the anniversary event.

The drive was amazing!!!. Thanks for the opportunity and thanks to all participated. First I would like to share a video and the detailed Trip Report will follow. Unfortunately I did not manage to capture some highlights of the trip due to its demanding nature but I am sure I will master that in time. Hope you enjoy it ! :)))

Good Evening Almosters,
First of all I would like to thank all the marshals especially @alshamsi_m for giving me the opportunity to join this drive. It was an amazing experience. You have to be careful about what you are asking for :) because this is not about talent but experience which you can get it only in time by driving more and more...
It was a beautiful night , we found dear @alshamsi_m at the camp site waiting alone in the dark
it seems like he was also hoping to find a nice camp fire when he arrived :secret laugh:We quickly set up the camp and enjoy the beautiful weather while drinking our delicious hot Karak ,listening stories :relief: and cathing up with friends.
We woke up to a windy morning thanks to @Abu Tariq I had a nice wrap for breakfast :yaeh am not durnk: .Then we split into two convoys and the fun has begun.
The drive was amazing!! It seems like 8 psi in the front tires does not work in the surprising sands of Sweihan .It was looking soft on the top but very hard just below the surface like a rock! I had a pop-out in the beginning of the drive which was not even a hit but lesson learned :) Moved up to 10 psi and then no problem at all.
I would like to emphasize once again how important is to keep a proper distance between the car in front of you . Too short, you might get stuck or end up sitting on top of it. To long, you can lost the track or not notice a sharp drop and fly because you did not see how the car in front of you reacted in that dune. I assume I managed to keep my distance fine in general.
A lot of respect for @Duli since I could not imagine how he managed to tackle all those technical dunes with his monster
that well. I assume he created his own road by flattening the dunes like an iron
Once again as I always say it was great and I want more!!! :yuush::yuush:
(The more you feed us the more we get hungry)
Best Regards

Nice report, however 10 psi, or whatever your gauge says, is too much for Al Ain desert. I suggest you to check your gauge with some other standard or to change your driving style. Pop-out is never dependant on the tyre pressure.

So, as always, Thursday night before I sleep…I like to check the meeting point on Google Maps and see the area it’s in and map my route so I have a clear direction of the roads I will drive and exits to take. As for this one, it was pretty simple…drive on Dubai – Abu Dhabi Road until specific exit and then it’s a straight shot onto Sweihan Road to the meeting point, cool!
Woke up nice and early, left on time and made sure I had space in the driving schedule to stop at a gas station and fill up for the car, my stomach and the icebox. All is great until I reach the exit I need to take. As make the turn over the bridge, I see red and white blocks…that can’t be good! I get closer and Sweihan Road is closed :012: WHAT?! WHY?! :031: @$%^&!* :055: Ok…quickly open Google Maps again and track a new route, thank God for my safe schedule space! Heading on the new route and I realized it’s already 7:30 and I have plenty of drive ahead. I sent an sms to alshamsi_m but in the back of my head I know, this does not mean they will wait.
Finally I arrived at 8:15…meeting point is empty. I decided to drive on the internal road of the meeting point with the radio on the ALMOST channel – in case there’s anyone on it I can ask to join. I was determined not to let my morning start like this! Soon with no sound on the radio, I started to soak in my disappointment with a cigarette when suddenly…..I see flags!!!!
I drove in and caught the last sentence of the briefing “so be careful and don’t assume to know what is behind the dune” and I thought to myself – this is going to be tough! New area and no pre-drive instructions, yikes. Thankfully, although a late arrival, I was allowed to join in Bu Salem’s convoy. As I was quickly deflating, Defragmantor stand next to me with his deflator and asks, how much do you air down? Thanks again buddy!
Now the drive…amazing! With all this wind and sand flying around…you either keep up or lose the tracks. So unless you want to stay where you are and get lost, you better keep up…but with safe distance of course! It was a very interesting route that we took and I loved the new area we discovered. Few second tries as the dunes required some momentum, few stucks and 2 pop outs…oh and one lost number plate (then found again).
Thank you alshamsi_m for the lead and Mazaaj for the sweep and Hockey for the rescue and all attendees and drivers for the interesting drive :057: I look forward to seeing you all again next weekend to celebrate the 9th anniversary of our beloved Adventurous League of Mountains, Oceans and Sand Thrills!
