Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 All Newbie in II was a truly impressive and well organised event. Making sure that some 50 cars (split into 5 convoys) moved safely from start to finish just shows how impressive an organisation the club really is!
I was in convoy 3 lead by Mazaaj, Hockey in recovery, and myself sweeping. The convoy did extremely well with Hockey managing to keep his rope firmly in the bag! We had a just a few second-rounds and self recoveries.
This was my first experience as sweep and I found it’s an excellent place to properly observe the convoy! There were a few times that the convoy became a little spread out, and it’s an important reminder to keep the correct distance from the car in front, leaving too big a gap is as much an error as not leaving enough space. Catching up when you can on a flat area means that you don’t get left behind when it comes to the dunes again.
The after-drive chitchat was as always great fun; those that had to leave missed out on food, drink, getting to know their fellow-members, and some rewarding ‘off road’ discussions with people that know what they are talking about. It even became pleasantly cool, and nothing beats sitting out under the stars in the summer.
Many thanks to all the organisers.

Mega convoy planned and managed professionally and went very smooth. :like:
very suitable area for such huge convoy and I believe all drivers did very well with few stuck here there, many second try, one side airbag and single pop out.
the mega convoy was divided into 5 manageable convoys with Al Khatib, Abu Jimmy, Mazzaj, Struwb and Bu Salem lead with the advance and Intermediate drivers in rescue & sweep and all with over all support by two floating marshals (Adnan & Suhil).
I was seeping the first (VIP) convoy with Amei in rescue and Al Khatib in lead, where we have few stucks any several second rounds - VIP :-) - had great time with everybody, know new members of the family and enjoyed the chit chat around the imagined bonfire (thank you Armin for the WOOD) with Shisha and nice weather.
thank you to all organizer, marshals, members and support for the great successful event.
hopefully I can find some time to edit and render the shoots I had it during the trip.

An amazing drive Thanks to ALKHATIB, Abu Jimmy, Bu Salem, Strawb, Mazaaj and all others involved.
We all meet up just outside Adnoc and what a sight it was seeing almost 50 cars all gathered there from one BIG family.
I was in the VIP group lead by ALKHATIB and sweeping done by Bu Shahid with Aemi there for recovery.
We covered 70kms in 3 hrs which was a fast paced drive especially during the end of the drive this time to actually BEAT THE SUNSET and reach our finishing point before dark.
Some pics of the drive will be posted soon.
As Newbies might not have a drive till after Ramadan, I would like to wish you all a Blessed month of Ramadan and hope to see you once again after Ramadan
Tc and stay safe till then

A wonderful , well organized and safe drive organized by our Marshalls, thank you Bu Salem ,Al Khatib, Abu Jimmy, Mazzaj, Strawb and all other Marshalls, Advance and Intermediate drivers in rescue & sweep. And a great company of Newbie almosters.
With such a huge convoys the Marshalls made the trip safe , exciting and educating. I got my truck stuck twice consecutively within a small distance, learning my mistake that I used less momentum and did make couple of second attempts. Yesterday was still a good learning experience cos I used the lessons given by Bu Salem, Abu Jimmy and Strawb.
My nervousness was, as I was placed in the VIP convoy and 2nd after Al Khatib.
Friends, All I want to say here proudly is, I've learnt my riding & driving skills from my Dad and now I'm learning my offroad skills from my Marshalls.
Cheers,

A big thank to all organizers. It was really nice drive. The family spirit was felt all around in this drive.
For the "under cooking video" I fitted 3 cameras in my car and one microphone near the exhaust to catch the beautiful noises. I ended up with so many files to edit :hidden:. Actually the drive was long distance, the sand was everywhere broken and I had problem with distance between cars. I was most of the time far from the car in front of me. Two things where affecting that. First, for the first time I was trying my tires with 8psi and I was not accelerating in turns to avoid pop-out, in result (and second) I was taking a very large turns and loosing speed... I think I need to know where is my tires pop-out limit to push up the speed. Yes, it takes time to learn his car specially going through the different seasons. Now I need to wash my car and stick the www.almost4x4.com sticker

Honestly, one of the best organized drive I have been part of. Simple strategy, but guys, it requires a lot of guts to implement, enforce and let everyone be part of. Where should I start from ! Convoy formation.. Delegation of marshals.... Track selection... Pace.. Discipline.. Harmony.. I can keep on talking and most important, it was a pure fun. I am just thrilled to be part of such a dedicated, talented and enthusiastic club who cares for everyone and I mean everyone. Let's talk about newbies, all of them did great job. Track was mix if easy and somewhere technical dunes and everyone was enjoying to their utmost. Somewhere the hot soft sand did welcomed us with its natural behavior and didn't even spare me from getting stuck. I was caught by MDG on top of one drop while parking and I loved it. Shamsi passed by me with a wicked smile and that said it all. In the end, i would just like to say that with this strategy, we are ready to handle 250 +++ cars and we can do it without any hassle and let everyone enjoy the most. Well done Almost family.

Dear Momo, 8 psi is still fine when driving in a right technic. You mentioned it rightly that on certain turns, you were avoiding acceleration on turns. You can still accelerate if you are not taking a sharp turn and the speed and angle of turn is well synchronized. Remember always! try to keep/align your front tyres in same directions where you are heading/intending to head. Also keep your acceleration and stearing steady. It will decrease the chances of pop outs significantly.
