So I pack up after work and run at 140 kms on Emirates road, and to my luck there's a big unfortunate accident which kept me from reaching the meeting point on time.
I reach alone, take my own track to the camp site after Nancy sent me the coordinates and had a nice chilled night drive.

Met with the gang by the bonfire, chatted a bit, had some of Nancy's authentic German chocolate (thanks youz!) then went to sleep in the car(a luxury that the FJ offers :045:).

Woke up and had complimentary breakfast offered by big Ben and Bou Hamdan (thanks brothas!), everyone was suffering from the lack of cups for having coffee, thankfully I'm not on that god forsaken drug! :011:

Big chief Capri briefs us that all drivers will lead and the last person in the convoy will be sweeping. We all get in line and Strawb leads the first round, was great fun, professional Almost style I must say. Excellent job :045:

We had couple of stucks, and popouts, Al Faqah is a very tricky place indeed. Plus when our chief falls pray to it, I think that says enough :033:

Thank you marshals for your patience, dedication and endless support :eagerness:

So I packed up after reaching home on a typical Thursday eve after 6pm to meet up with Ben at the second pump after Outlet Mall, filling fuel, quick regular desert food shopping including bananas and Red Bull (thats it actually), finding Delta doing the same and we headed towards meeing point in Faqaa. Thought we were late but only Yanka & Capri were found. Salinai joined a while later and Delta led us to the camp spot which was chosen on the spot. Late comers and early birds were informed via messages about the coordinates of the camp. Delta and Roby catered food for me, very much appreciated :003:
A nice temperatured night, bon fire, chit chat, dhabke dance lesson by Lamboo (Len wants defo more lessons) and some Oldies playing from Momo's car kept us awake, well not too long. Capri does not only gets a convoy moving but also an entire Camel herd!
Slept like a baby in my car before waking up through rain:027: Nice!

Breakfast sponsored by Ben, Bu Hamdan and I think Mazaaj brought those little saffron cooky thingies.
Socializing time with the family is just great!

After Chief Capri's brief of what the morning would unfold we headed over Faqaa'a dunes lead by none else then the members itself with an interval lead of 15 minutes each!

Good job people, I think as I was almost in the back and had to wait a long time for my turn. Which almost did not happen as the breakfast time took too much time in the morning which was unscheduled and delayed Chief's planing a bit. Anyways, big thanks to Capri and Momo for extending the drive to give me my chance:043:
Enjoyed this big time! I hope the convoy too:013:

Thank you Bu Tarek for my weekly treat. Mwah!

Thanks all members for making this trip full awesome!

I reached the meeting point late with Roby since it has been a long working day.
At the meeting point we met Lamboo and Khatib, I deflated really a little bit to 30psi and all together moved to camping point, Khatib led and I was the sweeper.
At camp a few people were there, nice to meet part of the family again after a few weeks, we had some chit chat and around midnight went to sleep.
The temperature was not bad, some rain during the night until morning but not too much.
After breakfast (thanks Ben and Bu Hamdan) the Big Chief Capri briefed all drivers about the trip. Since I was without 4x4 :036: I was a little bit worried but confident at the same time, with my copilot we decided to deflate the rear tires at 6psi and keep the front tires at 11psi, someone will think that we are crazy....yep, a bit! :028: :030: ... but at the end of the day our decision has turned out to be the correct one, we did all the trip on 2WD, believe it or not.
Coming back to the trip, I think that all drivers did a good job, some mistake happened, some popout and some nice stuck, but this is part of the game, I am sure that all of us, after such an event came home with a lot of more experience.
Thanks a lot to Almost4x4 (this trip for me Almosto4x2 :060:) and to all participants who makes another great day
Take care guys and see you soon

Decided with some other almosters to leave home after Al Fajer (morning) prayer. Strawb, The Jackal & myself.

When we just reached the meeting point, Poul & Mazaaj joind us.:003:

Deflated and started the drive to the camp, thank you Jackal for leading.

Had enough Arabic food (Balaleet, chibab & khnfaroosh) offered by Bu-Hamdan, thanks bro…:047:

Wait,
I'm Bu-Hamdan.. sorry I was confused because of the almosters who wrote before me. They were thanking him, so I thought of doing the same.:010:

Thank you Capri for briefing us what to do and how..

After this point, the drive took place..
it was really amazing day with some pop outs, stucks, and suffering in few areas. All drivers did great job (thank you "All Lead III" leaders).

Thank you Capri & Marshaling Team for giving us the chance to lead @ al Faqa'a area, It was something different for me.

Thank you sister(Ladylienka) for taking group pictures, but unfortunately you are not with us in those pictures.:012:

Thank you Yoghybear for sweeping the sweepers.

Before going.. I wanted to mention few good things from this trip or "event" because it doesn't happen every week..
- Nice people.
- Nice weather.
- New area (for me).
- improve leading skills.
- improve communicating skills with the sweeper.

Now, I think it's moment to stop writing and to wish you all good time.

See you soon In Sha ALLAH.

I have been unable to join a drive for over a month because of work, and this was an awesome re-introduction.

The lead styles of each of the drivers was quite different.
When its was your turn, you had to make the most of the area you were in.
Well done to everyone, you all did well.
It was a great day out and i enjoyed the changing styles.
It is quite different just playing in an area and not trying to go from A to B.
It gives freedom to go anywhere.

If i had to pick my favourite parts, it would have to be:
Nancy, for the high speed, technical route.
Bu-hamdan, for the technical small/medium dunes.
Strawb, he was the first lead and headed straight for the big dunes.

It must be a Jeep thing!!!!!

Thanks to all the marshals who organised the day and give us the opportunity to gain lead skills in a safe way.
Having Capri as #2 to monitor and critique your lead route is a great experience.

Maybe next time i will get my turn...... we ran out of time for me :(

Regards
Paul

Amazing friday morning ..... met up with Jackal and Bu hamdan at the emarat in Dubai-AlAin Road ........ we arrived at the meeting point at exactly 7am .......

We formed a mini convoy with Bu Hamdan, Mazaaj, Pwood and Jackal as the lead to the campsite ....... we saw the others standing on top of a dune watching us slowly make our way to the camp site ..... we said our good mornings and hi's and hello's ........

then Bu Hamdan brings out a bag of noodles with egg and pancakes ....... shukran habibi for the wonderful treat

Capri gets on with the briefing and calls me out to be the first lead for the day ...... I headed straight to the big dunes as capri pointed out in the briefing ...... i love driving on sand and its a pleasure to showcase what ive learned from almost4x4 by having first crack at leading everyone

it was a good mixture of styles as im sure everyone had a blast ......

as a special request though ........ it would be great if CHIEF MARSHAL Capri can write his review of how the drivers did so we can all take it as a positive feedback for further development ......

thanks and keep the sand flying
