When the Pink Scorpion Ladies Drive was posted on the forum, I never thought of joining. I had just sold my 4x4 a few months back, and was content to be on the passenger seat for a while.

But when I was told I could borrow Strawb's Bulldog for the drive, I said why not.

A big thank you to Caprihorse and Alkhatib for ensuring our safety during the drive, Melfi and Ladylienka for the lecture and driving tips, the paparazzi who followed their beloved cars and us (?) around, and the lovely ladies who joined this event.

It was fun sharing the excitement of the first drive with new drivers like me.

The first drive is very important because it determines whether dune bashing is for you or not. We felt very safe knowing the marshals were there to protect us in case something goes wrong. The lectures before and during the drive was also very useful. And the encouragement we received whenever we got the instructions right was uplifting.

Thank you, Almost4x4. This has been a great experience. I will be back for more.

May I suggest that Bulldog’s owner keep track of his car keys at all times if he still wants a turn at dune bashing. :057:

The "Pink Scorpion" drive was nice, smooth trip - and I want to say thanks to all ladies, which did drive with us. Some of us did drive the very first time in the desert, some many times (mostly as a passengers, right? :010:). Important is, that all of us had a good, exiting time, & for sure it was good experience for all.

Melfi did fantastic job as a leading car, THANK YOU!!! :045:
The marshals - Capri & AlKhatib - did great job (as always!!!), thanks to them we felt very safe. :003:
I want to thank to Fida too, who this time landed his FJ to Hiba :012: - and from distance in role of paparazzi did try to take as many photos as possible, and the same time very carefully observe Hiba's driving & 3 children behind his back. :013:

On the end of the drive some ladies asked, when we'll do similar trip again. So information is - honestly, I don't really know... this was our first Ladies Only drive - it needs to be planned - so let's see, when marshals decide to do it again.
But GOOD NEWS is - ladies, we regularly post trips every week on forum, just check it - and now you can join any members or newbies trip, to gain more experience & fun! :003:

Thank you so much all of you for making this day so memorable. Marshall and ladies leaders were very good and patient. With them we felt very secured and we challenged our fears to reach amazing places. Certainly the most amazing experience I' ve had since I' ve been in the UAE. Thanks again, for sure, I will come back!

Thank you Dimple, Ladylienka and Camille for opening the thread! (and FSL) :045:

So here is my share - apologies for the late start... After 3 full weeks of club's activities, I had to catch up on life... and sleep! :039:

The Ladies Drive had been discussed amongst the Marshals/Crew for a looooooong time... I always wondered if it would ever take place and WE DID IT!! Not that anyone apart from me (ironically) had a doubt that it would, but with the amount of last minute up & downs, the competition that the other 2 drives brought in, and the amount of home fights that must have happened, I have to admit that at some point I thought that it would get cancelled. I would have been gutted if it had... but it didn't. :048:

So registration was opened and we had a few very good surprises: Neha had decided to re-jump in, Club Members Infiniti and Camille that appeared out of nowhere, Strawb's generosity by lending Bulldog to Dimple, Fida who did eventually give the car back to Hiba and Yasmin who was finally introduced to us by Delta.

I did get a very thorough briefing with Caprihorse and Ladylienka a couple of days earlier, including a mock / scouting drive, but when the morning arrived, with the nerves of my first lead, I will admit that I had to cheat and get a last-minute refresher of all the things to talk about and that I had to write them on my iPhone! :033: So once all 7 ladies were there and we got rid of the boys, we started our drive...

We went over to deflation point, which I almost missed because I had forgotten to delete all the previous random drives out of the Garmin, and so Jabster witnessed the worst fussing around with a GPS... I gave the briefing to the ladies, set up the little dune, played around with the little car that Ladylienka handed over (I was ready to pretend that my iPhone was an FJ) and deflated. And off we went...

For some heavenly luck, I managed to get back on track with the mock-up route but then SHOCK HORROR!! The usual beautiful sight of camels in our path had been replaced by me having to go around them and improvise a new route... for the rest of the trip! Despite this, I think that I did relatively well, trying to stick to rather flat areas for the start, and a few increasing-in-height hills. The ladies, however, seemed to enjoy it and were doing pretty well, so I carried along as if nothing. A couple of our new members were understandibly nervous over a dune or two, but they went through them with courage and dedication and unlike me, who pretty much cried out of fear throughout my whole first drive, they smiled and smiled all the way to Pink Rock. Up there we saw some of the boys, but they promptly left, and as we were also running a bit late, we drove down again.

The return trip started well but towards the end I "might" have messed up the route a little bit, which meant that I perhaps took them through a rather hilly section. This caused a few stucks, albeit not many, and perhaps a little stress to our Marshals :028:, who, just as I had found our way back to my original route, came up to me and discreetly asked "Where on earth are you going?!" :023:. But it's ok. We were almost back to the road, so got back to the shops for inflation.

Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY proud of the team of ladies who joined, and of those males who gave up their steering wheel for the day. As Ladylienka said, we do not know yet when the next Ladies Drive will be, so until a date for The Return of the Pink Scorpion is decided, please please please join us for the usual drives and show those boys how it's done! :015:

PS: Next time we hope that Neha, Candy, Gilda, Fjord, Sherine, Moucef, Smurfster and... Jabster with her new FJ will also drive :048:
PS2: BettyPo, Miss D, RAB... we missed you!
PS3: Boys, get ready... The girls are back in town! :011:
