Bridgestone 275/70R16 H/T, but recently I experienced huge quality problems with this tyres, so I'm not more advising anybody to install these tyres at the moment. For me generally Cooper H/T or Yokohama Geolandar H/T, same dimensions as above and approx. same price, are the favorites at the moment.

when it comes to tires there is no ONE BESTEST tire for off road or the FJ cruiser. It all depends from person to person.

In general the current drift is as below.

1. Yokohama Geolanders.
2. Cooper At but not the STT for sure !
3. BFG TA KO --- my personal choice - runnign 90.000 Km on mine and still going strong with no pop outs and hardly any stucks deflated to 9 PSI.

If money was no object I would loof at BFG M/T and also teh Kumho M/S

Now for the FJ I would suggest 275/70/16 which are very +1 over teh stock size and give great handling on and off road
Hello all

Please let me take the chance to share with you my opinion:

1. I agree with Caprihorse about Bridgestone that they used to be good but not anymore, I don't know where they manufacture them now because they will start having noise just few months after buy. So NOT RECOMENDED

2. My friends and I bought Yokohama Geolanders A/T for at least 9 FJs at the same time, we discovered that they have a very good performance but unfortunately we discovered that they have a problem with side wall which cuts near the rim like a razor additionally, I don't like the dealer because if you inquire about the delivery they have no idea and sometimes out of stock. So NOT RECOMENDED.

3. I'm surprised that Wasif is happy with his BFG, I would defiantly recommend it for a jeep but for FJ because we have a heavier car and many FJ owners told me that they regret having them. NO COMMENTS.

4. I agree with Wasif about this size ( 275/70/16 ) it excellent for FJ than the stock size

Maybe I got a good set of BFG .....i hardly have any pop outs ....driving at 8 PSI never get stuck too ....but with the FJ and its A TRAC / Diff Lock one can hardly get stuck anyway.

I guess first thing would be to decide if you want a All-terrain (A/T) or a Highway-terrain (H/T) tire. Both have their own distinct features / usage.
BFG A/T are great tires but they tend to pop-out because of comparatively stronger sidewalls (good feature for wadi's but not so good for sand)

Now we love our coopers here, and most of our FJ's have Cooper H/T, but Cooper AT3 (A/T version) can be another option.

I got Cooper ATR for my chevy and i was amazed by the performance. Absolutely quiet on tarmac as compared to any-other A/T tire, softer sidewalls which makes it great for sand and 3rd benefit is because they are All-Terrain so you'd not be too worried about paying a visit to wadi's if you fancy.

I totally not agree with Wasif as BFG are pieces of s..t,,,,, I purchased and used for 4 months hardly and then throw it.
My personnel choice is Perille Scorpion ATR,,275/70/R16.

I love them because of their design and reinforced but soft side wall,, never had any pop out.....
only one pop out with 9psi air when I rolled over hehehehhe.

My personal experience with my cherokee xj ,

1- Cooper cobra (265/65/15) :- perfect on road ( silence and traction is amaizing ) , good traction offroad , but tends to pop out if deflated less than 11 psi due to low profile sidewalls .
2- Cooper Discoverer H/T (265/75/15) :- very good on road ( no noise and very good traction ) , very good traction offroad , but for my underpowerd poor cherokee , the car tends to side slip ( slide ) on low speed which makes side cresting of high dunes very difficult , as it was really hard to maintain proper speed for safe cresting.

3- BFG. A/T all terrain ( 32" ) :- poor on road ( little noise and poor traction ) , perfect traction offroad , especially for under powered vehicles ( the tyres will not digg ).

If your car is over 230 hp and its a daily use car i think your best choice will be the Cooper Discoverer H/T .
What goes around , comes around .
