@Daggerfall, I think you bring up a very good point and that is to choose the right light for the situation. Being in the middle of the convoy, I doubt there is any need to switch on all the floodlights (useful when you're leading). In fact it's a bit detrimental to the driver in front.
Having watched the video you posted, I can say with certainty that it was the wide cornering zones that I need to have lights on. Good call on positing that vid
The only thing I would add to that gents having recently installed an ONX6 bar are that the 'wide driving' beam pattern that Baja offer in all their lights is a flattened beam. In practice what this means is that while it gives good forward throw it doesnt project very far up or down the dune and without the additional lights I have which are in a circular/flood beam pattern one pointed to each side and one straight and all pointed slightly up, it would be much more difficult to pick directions.
Also with regards to dust, anything that's pointed upwards has a negative effect when you're following a car in a dust cloud and for me the amber does seem to be better in dust but I suspect this is personal preference/perception.
Just my experience, i'm not an expert.
I would however really like to see the performance of an ARB Intensity in the Flood beam pattern they look like they might be ideal. So if anyone wants to buy one and trial it for me it would be most appreciated! I'll cook you a steak as reward next time we're in Liwa :)

1st of all thanks for Almost 4x4 team.
Really it was nice trip with the Chief Leading and all intermediate and advance rescues, we had some experience with this trip since we have couple cars with popouts one of them was with damaged valve which is the 1st time im doing it in the desert ( valve replacement ) since @Daggerfall he has it with him as spare parts we try it with his tolls but its seems we are doing it in wrong way which is causing a lot of time consuming in the end we agreed to replace the tire with the spare one in the last minutes the valve got fixed thanks Alaa Al Ramahi for this lesson, Im going to have a spare valve with me in the tool box.
we have couple cresting cars which is normal situation and in the last we have TimuR exhaust broken.
im sorry to what happened with Mohanad and hope everything is fine with him, it was also lesson that we have to put our seat belt before we start the car engine.
since we have with us the autographic man Lanoosh so he record all the recovery its happened there.
thank you Chief for nice trip and we are looking for the same or higher level in next drive, thanks for all advanced and intermediate for rescues specially Adam

Well, somehow it was a thrilling evening......at the beginning the track was quite tricky, not because it was difficult itself, but probably because some drivers didn't have the time to warm up ....... including an Intermediate Driver :011:.....so we had immediately a couple of stuck and some second try
Central part of the trip was different style, good pace and everyone was doing well
After the central part of the trip we had a sequel of stucks, popouts, car crested, broken valve, exhaust falling down......quite a sort of nightmare.:019:
Nevertheless the first part of the convoy had the opportunity to eat some good food and drink a good coffee too, thanks guys:021:
After the "Dark Side Session" , since it was almost midnight I decided to drive easy way to the planned exit, but actually if was not so easy, I got stuck :033: in a very nasty litlle ditch, so Zaher's winch enter in action for the second time.in the evening.
All in all everybody did a good job, it was not so easy but I am happy with the performance of everybody, well done and thanks for joining.
Special thanks goes to Armin for being my second leader, Mark B for the sweeping, great job on the back Mark, you are a pillar, and to all Int drivers, your contribution was important, and as mentioned before the rescuer of the night was Adam:030:
Thanks guys and see you next time for another training session.
Cheers

I don't think that its possible to cover all those zones mentioned in the video previously posted with only a single lighting fixture. I think you need to have layers of lights with different type of lighting pattern for different zones. I have wide cornering in front of the A pillars (where you don't need long distance) and they help a lot. (Maybe a flood type might do better). Short and mid range light in the front and a bar at the top for mid range and long range with wide coverage (This was lacking for me) might be helpful.
Then you need flood on both sides looking downwards and a backing light you are good to go :)))

what a fantastic night,
@yoghbear as a leader decides to to devide the convoy as 2 newbie to 1 intermediate and Mark B got the swiping and @Armin as second lead. `
i really enjoyed the drive since the route was tricky especially in the beginning with full of adrenaline .
my position was the second last of the convoy where i attended most of the technical issues and this is an advantage to learn a lot.
we had a couple of pop out and few cresting and stuck .
thank you chief for your passion , Mark B & @Armin for the perfect control , intermediates and especially Adam , Booy and Daggerfall ( you guys did nice job ).
and hat off to alshamsi_m for his special touches.
im so exciting for next drive .
see you soon
