Just a quick report on today's Intermediate "Sun Run" drive. Meet point Al Badayer shops at 3pm. Everyone arrived on time. Approximately 10 cars in our Intermediate convoy and another 10 in the experienced Newbie Convoy. ALKHATIB was our leader today. We headed off South towards Super Bowl on a very hot Thursday afternoon. The sand was soft but smooth as there was a small sand storm covering sand over any recent tracks. Summer weather had finally arrived in the UAE. Shortly into the drive one of the Jeeps started overheating. The pace was slow but the track rather technical. After powering up the auxiliary fans we managed to temporarily get the jeep going again. On reaching Super Bowl we all had a small play climbing towards the top.

After a a quick break we returned towards Al Badayer shops. Overall the convoy performed well. Only one or two second rounds and a Self recovery using the Rubicon diff locks! Two cars left the convoy at the shops and the remaining crossed the E44 northbound towards 2nd December. The pace was now a little faster but the track was full of the usual Land Cruiser tour convoys. Shorty into the drive a call was received requesting assistance from one of our club members who had managed to drive her car into some deep water in the mountain pools. Once reaching the 2nd December cafeteria ALKHATIB lead a recovery team towards the mountains.

To summarise we completed almost 3 hours of desert driving with the weather improving as the Suns Ray's became less intense. Overall the level was fairly easy. If I could suggest now with all the recent upgrades we no longer mix intermediate with advance but each have our dedicated convoy. Resources permitting of course! That way all levels are challenged rather than driving at a lower level which is the norm at the moment for us Advanced drivers.

Thanks Almost4x4 for the pre weekend outing. Safe and professional as always. I hope the waterlogged 4x4 rescue went ok. I admire the commitment to help others out. Even at such a late hour in the day.

We all met at Badayer shops. Started after quick briefing. We all were moving fast and enjoying patented khatib style fast drive. By all means we were testing skills of men and their machines. Goldy developed heating issue and we found that external fans were not working. Our own wiki for jeep , Khatib quickly changed the fuse and goldy's fans started working . I was indeed happy as i would never like to miss these types of drives. We then started moving towards super bowl and went through every big dunes. Played around super bowl and then started to move back. Passed through Iftar bowl and were heading towards badayer. On reaching badayer khatib then decided to move to pink rock and then 2nd december. I had to pull out as I had family commitments. We had wonderful drive with out any stucks or popout's . Thanks Khatib, Dave , Mark , salinhai, Buti , orlantsev , singh , and Eric for sweep. ( I hope i havent missed any one. )
