Great shots Daggerfall. Your photo's show just how technical the Egg Basket play ground area really is!! It adds meaning to the age old saying:
"To finish FIRST.....FIRST you must finish!!"
Congratulations to to all those who completed the course. And well done margarita for doing it the most efficient way!

I really waited a lot for the challenge and was glad that it was announced.
As part of the preparation I swapped my old Mio navigator to Garmin Montana and spent few days before the event getting familiar with the interface. Unfortunately, I was one of the few people who did not complete the route before it was called off...I should say that being in a convoy even on some of the difficult routes is not the same as navigating myself. Except for the crest stuck which kept me still for a long time despite all the shoveling efforts until Abu Tareq came for rescue I did not have too many problems driving as such, but I failed miserably with navigation. Perhaps I should have kept my old navigation device, until I have become more familiar with Montana.
Since the standard pack to my big surprise did not include the holder which I realized too late to shop for it additionally I ended up holding it in my hand which surely affected the quality of navigation.
Despite my disappointment with own performance I am really happy for other challengers who did better. Just before we took off I thought who could be the likely winners and none of my guesses was right which is again a proof to the difference between what you see in a convoy driving and solo.
The track also lived to the Marshalls promise. One of the tricks for me was when audience was positioned very near to one of the points. I was so disappointed that it was not a checkpoint when I got there and found out that it was some 50 meters away.
Unfortunately I did not stay long after the event because I took with me my parents (almost direct off the plane) and needed to bring them back home for rest.
Overall it was one of the most exciting events with the club!

Yes 2-3 challengers fall into that trap :)). We were standing on one of the highest dune crest and enjoyed how they struggled to climb to the top to reach us. This gave me an opportunity to take some good photos...

Thanks to all marshals, participants and audience for this fun and challenging event. Agalon has already said most of what i have in my mind a few posts back.
I used Oruxmaps to navigate since we don't have a dedicated GPS device yet. It worked well until the third point. After that i had to manually select the next checkpoint. That cost me some time. My last two points were around the tricky part with higher and steep dunes. I had few near stucks in the bowls while searching for the infamous point 5. (Thanks Miss D for the last minute tip which helped me a lot :P) One time i've noticed i wasn't fast enough to past a crest and i stopped just a second before i got stuck at the top. I backed up, gained some speed and voila!! I finished 5th with the 4th rank.
Congrats to all winners and participants!!!! Thanks to Duli family for yummy BBQ. Special thanks to @Abu Tareq for sharing his extra t-shirt with Duru. I was so busy preparing for the challenge, i totally forgot about bringing something warm for her.
alshamsi_m, once you mentioned that we had to earn the orange t-shirt, does this counts :P

Event gave the opportunity to observe and learn from the more experienced drivers.
The trip was a mixed combination of different grades and I was an observer at point 5.
The BBQ (Duli
) at the end and gathering of family along with children was a lovely site.
Till next time take care.
Thank you and congratulation to all challengers.

I was helping Alyasi run Checkpoint 2, and as we were on the lower/flatter ground we missed out on most of the cars getting stuck. What was clear however was how 'fired up' and focused the challengers were, and it was really great to see everyone having so much fun!
Afterwards we really enjoyed Duli's meal and had a great chitchat. These chitchats, in a relaxed after-drive environment, are where we can all pick up and learn about our sport from those that know what they're talking about.
Many thanks to all the organisers for yet another successful drive.

Dear All ,
It was a pleasure meeting each one of u during d event :)
I started off at position no10 and was nervous as i had lost touch with d dunes fo sumtime .. i kept saying to myself slow n steady .. started off good in the start , couple of check points and then the tricky dunes began .. at one point i had everything in d car elevated and so was d egg lol .. hard landings n a few self recovery stucks gt me more anxious to reach the next check point .. i was on my last check point and i kinda lost my way from the gps and unfortunately had a pop out ! tht was the end of it .. one step closer and i would have been hme but nevertheless it was an awesum experience .. I thank the marshals and ever brilliant Bu Salem who have been very patient with me and supportive since 2010 .. i promise i will try to be more regular with the club henceforth :)
well , here is a drivers point of view of the experience i had :) enjoy
