Early Breakfast [Fly & Dive] (5+ Report) with Strawb as Lead and Yoghybear as Sweeper with Intermediate drivers.

Situation that can be prevented.
(quote from DAVE's Post) ...I heard Strawb getting excited on the radio as being a lead driver he was blessed with a 7th sense of danger. He was yelling at a black 2-door wrangler to slow down and as I looked out to the side I saw this Jeep airborne coming in to land on the back of a 4 door wrangler!! We almost had the first 6-door wrangler join our club and just from sheer luck an accident was averted! It just goes to show how serious we need to respect one another in the convoy and always keep a safe distance! JJ's wrangler to my surprise had minimal damage after his ''landing''... (quote from DAVE's Post)

(quote from Mark B's Post) ...Thanks JJ for the midair maneuver to avoid using my roof as a landing strip... (quote from Mark B's Post)

Seeing the roof of Mark's Jeep is more worrysome than seeing my skid guard partly off. Had I not slightly changed my track I would definitely park my Jeep on Mark B's roof and what triggers me to change track is Mark B's sudden drop and his flag disappeared from my sight my reflex said change track "slightly" and choose between left or right (i chose left) but it didn't occur to me to take 2nd try because of the sand around me and distance of the vehicle behind. All these happened in a split second.

And here are my lessons learned from this drive.
Maintaining the convoy speed + safe distance, a lesson that I will require continuous learning

My skills to improve!
How to read sand
How to gradually approach a dune without losing momentum
Watch the car infront
Mind the car following you

Happy reads, Cheers!

I personally enjoyed the trip a lot. Strawb never disappoints. and Yoghy did amazing being there in a sec for helps that needed.
I want to thank the Marshals for letting me join this trip. and I actually learnt few thing in this trip.

heres my points:

I heard someone was stuck on the other side of the dune and didn't call it on the radio. and two cars almost hit him when they crossed the dune. friends, please please please, first thing you do when any small thing happens, CALL IT ON RADIO. the same thing happen to me and a great driver her name is Nancy, she called it, and saved me from flying over her (while ago).

side stucks for me is the worst of them all. and it eventually gets annoying to most people because its the first thing Marshals tell everyone and it is one of the most I sow in this trip. DO NOT FIGHT GRAVITY. you see your car can not make it, make a second try, or go down and find a way back up. you can't find a way, ask marshals to guide you. it is better to call on radio than getting stuck specially in summer. and worst case getting roll over. and another bad case, getting damages on your car.

I also had situations of fighting gravity. which was funny when Oxana told me as a joke, if she should help me recover. but she did notice I didn't fight it, I reversed and went back up.

sometimes we think if we push the car we will not hold back the convoy. its nice thought, but only works in flat ground on Shiekh Zayed Rd. but what happens is stucks. second round takes max 20 sec, stucks take min 5 min. think it over.

Following the track: I sow took many tracks that were going complete wrong to a point some of them intermediate tracks. yes we know some of you are great drivers. and can take more challenging routs. but you have to keep in consideration, this is newbie drive, the moment you take different track is you are miss leading the convoy behind you. trust me, be patient, ask the intermediates how fun they have now for that.

and you can see in the second VID that Muhittin posted, about what I mean about track. :)

remember, some are more experienced than others, some can do somethings and others can do better in other things. we have to work with each other to help each other progress.

some friends were asking me questions that I couldn't answer. best people to ask are the marshals. and fastest and easiest way to do it, search the forum about your topic, and if its not there already, you can create a thread in the right location :)

Finally Thank you all Newbie for making that day happen. but please listen exactly to what marshals tell you. if you can't get what they are saying and you are not sure what to do, in my opinion is stop the car and ask, it might be miss communication, it might be error that you might not see from angel that marshals see. it could be any reason.

Also many cars did not maintain the right distance, if few situations we did see few cars struggling in same area.
this could happen only for distance or when marshals ask you to stop, and you keep going.

I have to apologies to Refad, I think he was the last car behind me at the end of the trip. and I bent my flag before it so it wont hit the trees and forgot to bring it back up.

The wife wants me to vacuum out the Jeep (sand), but every time I get into the vehicle and look over and see the slightly red sand in all the crooks and crannies, I remember an awesome drive. Think I will wait a week to vacuum, or not.

Then call me a sand lover, because I am sooooooo there. What is it that makes us love the desert????? I cannot help myself. All week all I can think about is getting out with the club. You are right. It is a sand addiction. I find myself now looking at all 4X4s looking for the Scorpion. Weird!

Oh well. Friday is only a little more than a day away. With any luck, I will be in the sand with Almost day after tomorrow.

The anticipation is killing me.
