Meeting at 8pm worked out well and the regular given 30 minute waiting time gave all plenty of room to show up in time, except for Bader of course:011:
I decided to take Betty's brother instead of her sister as I thought no drive would be involved, but as it turned out a short night drive was included lead by JEEP master Momo and I got convinced to sit as a passenger:016: Well, sitting with an angry Sarookh who drives in 2-wheel on 20 PSI was not a bad decission though I felt sick towards the end:033:. At least he was in a better mood and showed plenty of leg during camp:030:
The combined camp with joiners from all 3 drives for the following morning gave an amazing atmosphere with chit chats, laughs, hell of food and even some entertainment!:015:
I keep receiving complaints by my friends that I do not have time for them anymore since I fell for the desert and my growing passion for being in the sand box, rather then spending time in malls.
I invited one of my friends (Abdullah) to join whom I have known for years, who truly enjoyed Sarookhs drive and even more the camp stating that he liked the people (YOU) as they all are like family!! So here we go again and he is thinking to get a 4x4 again as he enjoyed himself so much and says thanks to all.
I am thanking especially all chef's who cooking in the kitchen a new dish out for all of us on a weekly basis and volunteering their time to watch over us and of course the real chef's who catered plenty of food for us during the evening.
Hope to see you all sometime soon and share your experience......

In the end, all my steam, pressure and anger disappeared and a big obvious smile took place, i love you people (almost family) for all the above and more :triumphant:

Hi Guys
I had been invited to dinner by Mazaaj on Thursday night. It was to be a group celebration.
I accepted the invitation assuming it would be in a mall or a restaurant somewhere.......
I had other commitments for Friday morning so couldn't join any of the drives, but could make the Thursday night dinner.
I called Mazaaj on Thursday afternoon to confirm the arrangements. Nizwa at 20:00.....
The penny dropped. Not a mall. Very narrow minded of me. This is not the Almost4x4 way.
The Pre dinner activity was a 1 1/2 hour "Khatib style" loop around Pink Rock.
What a blast. I loved every second of it.
I felt at ease for the first time at night and just relaxed and enjoyed myself.
The pace was fast and the track was flowing and technical. Tricky for the day and super fun adrenalin rush for the night.
Thank you Khatib.
The dinner camp was only a short easy drive from Nizwa.
To the gentlemen who provided the awesome dinner, thank you. You guys outdid you selves.
Good food, good company and a great evening.
Thank you all for a wonderful evening. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Regards
Paul

I met with the guys/gals at the shops at the meeting point expecting to drive to the camp site, but to my delight I was told by Alkhatib that we will have a night drive to pink rock and back to join the rest of the group. We deflated our tiers and off we went. The track was nice and had fun going though it. On the way back we saw the newbie's convoy just moving out on the other side of the road at Tewi Nizwa and caught up with them at the camp site. At the camp site we were treated to an awesome diner courtesy of Alkhatib, Abu Jimmy, Mazzaj and bu Hamdan. The food was good by itself and to finish it of there were some nice sweets that were very tempting which made it harder to say no to them. There were some nice home made Luqaimat (courtesy of Mazzaj), Kunafa and Omani Halwa (courtesy of Abu Tariq). Having gone through all that food we sat around the camp fire drinking the legendary Karak tea made by the master (Hamdan) and chit chatted till around 2.
In the next day we drove back to the shops and met up with the other participants and split up into 3 convoys. The GanGanam track was awesome and thanks to marshals and drivers it was a smooth one.
Thanks Alkhatib, Abu Jimmy, Mazzaj and bu Hamdan for the food.
Thanks to all the marshals, explorers, Advance drivers, fellow intermediate drivers and others for an excellent weekend.
