The members travel more than 800k to enjoy the trip and if the level of driving skills is not as per the level of terrain then the whole convoy suffers and marshals have to change the level which is quite frustrating for all the participants. And also when it is in empty quarter then we are in the middle of no where. Secondly, if the marshals are being hard on the criteria, I assure u that it is for everyone's safety but not for their liking. Since you have some experience in dessert then imagine if u are marshal and have to take care of everyone then what will be ur preferences. I would kindly advise you to regularly participate in drives so marshals can evaluate your driving style and skill level. The rest is upto your understanding.

Trust me I understand your frustration completely as I've been in your exact shoes earlier, but I'm going to highly stand by Fida's advice. We all have to follow the trip and club's rules no matter what, even the marshals themselves.
And by the way, there are marshals that some times come from other clubs and join our trips, and when they do they are recognized as Newbies! Imagine that!

As Fida advised, keep checking the forum regularly and make your way up to higher levels.

Rein, don't worry, Newbie++ in our langauge means almost intermediate level, not number of drives on newbie level...
