Ive been doing a fair share of research on the Toyota Rub3 Land Cruiser 70 ........
its been tickling my fancy and may be a good option to go for if i decide to change my offroad machine (not in the near future though ..... i just love my XJ for what it is)
any thoughts on this land cruiser? i was searching thru the some sites and these babies still go for around 60 - 80k aed depending on the year model
id really appreciate for those in the know if we can open a discussion about this car
thanks in advance

The perfect car for serious off roading, look for pre 2010 models as they came with the older 4.5 straight six which is bulletproof and will go on forever ! Post 2010 has the FJ / Prado 4.0 V6

the Toyota FZ engine ...... 24 valve 4.5L DOHC Straight 6 ...... 212 horsepower (158 kW) at 4600 RPM and 275 pound-feet (373 N·m) at 3000 RPM
they're just very hard to come by though .... the ones which are for sale at a good price i mean

There are plenty available in Al Aweer and in Buraimi, talk to Dynatrade. There was one great one on Dubizzle too. That straight 6 will go on for 600,000 miles without having any issues at all and the mods you can do on it ....endless !

Post 2010 LC70s have a pre 2010 FJ/prado engine! Supercharger anyone????
To kill the curiosity, what are the mods that can be done on the inline engine? Other than the normal ones available for the v6.
Solid axle coupled with inline engine should make it a hell of a ride (literally: backaches tooth jarring ride etc) But the reliability, towing capability/overall trouble free suspension and top it off with the cool retro look and you have an LC70 worth the drool.

Dont have much experience about Toyota , but the normal mods are available to the inline engine , ( CAI . systems , throttle spacers and sprint boosters , UNI chips and nasty superchargers and turbo) .. one thing i would like to mention about the LC70 series , those cars are not easy to drive off-road due to short , narrow base , and high (tall ) body , they tend to roll over easily , especially if lifted . so if you are thinking of having one you better try to take it easy , and get to know the car step by step , as its behavior is much different compared to the FJ . increasing the width of the car seems to be a good idea as well ( wheel spacers , wider rims , wider tyres ). once you get used to it you will find out that its the " Ultimate Offroad Machine " .
What goes around , comes around .

2013 hard top, starts at 128K, with some awesome mods of 20-40K on top, approx weight like a JK. The ones I have seen literally go anywhere, but have been all modified and it may also be because those are very good drivers. Easy to roll as I consider as light weight and I agree with step by step. Tires and rims first....
Actually that's all you need as it is powerful, but .......supercharged rocks!
Yap, Dynatrade knows and can get it for you within a week or two if you present the full amount in one go.
If they still have older models, though brand new, they may go for around 100K.
Second hand one available of a friend of mine who wants to sell. Soft top, 2010 but price still in negotiation:011:
You may have difficulties getting it for 50-60 K as the Rub3 is in demand.
The only Toyota I would want to have, it's amazing also to drive in the dunes....it flies...never seen a stronger Chassis:060:

Oh the stuff you can do to the srtaight six is endless. Polished and ported heads would be like an appetiser on my mod menu for this kind of engine, then you have hi lift cams, stroker kits super lightweight pistons....I could go on and on !
With all the stuff tried and tested and readily available at descent prices one would just go crazy with thsi thing.
Then you get a full set of lockers, a great set of progressive gas shocks and the ride is ready to rock !
There is a guy in AUH who has a very well sorted 2007 model, will look for pics and put them up.
