Which GPS to buy?

Friends,

Reading this thread i got lot of information on Garmin GPS. Thanks. Has anyone used Garmin 50 or 40 or 205 in offroad. If yes, can you pls share few words about your experience.

nuvi 205 or 255 are best if you don't want to spend too much. Although you won't be able to find it box pack as the models are discontinued. I'm myself using nuvi 255.

Not too sure about 40 / 50 as they were replacements of 255 but never used it.

40/50 are excellent for road only ... not off-road on the other hand 205w/255w/265w are very good for off-road

The best ever is Montana 600 series. For offroad and onroad. Though it cost bit more but worth every single peny.

A little piece of advice ... that Fida and I agree on ... and do yourself a favour too, buy something good strong and sturdy and of good quality so that you wont be swapping out parts or other things over and over .... buy it once buy it right and you'll be good ;)

To choose a proper equipment is very critical, as it may affect the long life and stable features and probably you don't want to change it as frequently as your underwear.

My first Garmin (GPSMap276C) I got in 2006 and I'm extremely happy with it until today. The second unit Montana 650 I received from a friend as a gift in 2012. Between 2006 and 2012 technology did change, so Montana is definitely more advanced as 276C. It has features, that we are describing at other threads.

But definitely I don't advice you to go for cheap China or Carrefour stuff, as it showed always to be a short time investment. Many of our members can confirm this fact, when we asked them to lead the convoy and by sudden they were driving completely in wrong direction, saying on the radio a very weak excuse, e.g. "My so called GPS stopped working..."

Nuvi 205 is square shaped 3.5" screen
Nuvi 205w is wider 4.3" screen and as we all know, bigger is better :011:
