Any recommendations on what wood to use and where to get it from?

the cheapest wood would be fine, lots of it, anywhere you can get it.. it will burn away quick..
avoid buying from places like ACE,, waste of money. the shops in Badayer are fine, but if you can raid a construction site they might give you the used old wood for free, just make sure it's dry
