4x4 Modifications vs. RTA Vechicle Testing.

Hi group, how do the various 4x4 car modifications affect one's ability to get a car through RTA vehicle testing when renewing the car's registration? Is it true that one has to remove all mods, get the car passed and then reinstall them again? By modifications here I am talking about bull bars (bumpers), suspension, springs, wheels accessories and tires.
