Hello Almosters,
GOOD Drive Today!!
I reached the meeting point at 3.15pm where Raja & Kris_K were already waiting while the rest of the convoy started arriving shortly. The briefing started around 3:50 and the members were divided into 2 convoys based on their no. of drives with the 5+ convoy lead by Booy and the 5- convoy lead by alshamsi_m and Red Baron as the second lead. I was part of the 5- convoy. The 5+ convoy started moving around 4:15pm and the 5- convoy left shortly after.
I was the sixth car in the convoy with Raja in front of me and Rashidjass floating around. The first portion of the drive was technical with a lot of small dunes and the effects were felt on the third dune itself when we heard on the radio that the LWB vehicles we stuck. Shortly after the convoy started moving more members were having trouble. There were a lot of crested cars and second tries in the first portion of the drive with a member losing his front bumper and a member leaving early as he forgot to fill fuel in his car. The second portion of our drive consisted of bigger dunes where we had to go straight up and down. Shortly after we had a small briefing by alshamsi_m due to the members not maintaining adequate space while stopping their cars. After we resumed our drive one of the member had a pop out where we were shown by the marshals and the intermediate members how to fix it.
The drive ended at 6:55pm where everyone gathered in the sitting area to enjoy with the members of the other convoy.
Thank you to all the marshals and the intermediate members for making sure that the convoy is safe and sound and for provided us with valuable advice & assistance.

Hello Team,
This is my second trip with Almost 4x4 and first forum post. I have been offroading for sometime now but i thought it was important for me to up my game by learning from the more experinced.
Today’s trip was different from our club drive. Summer might be at its peak but nothing stops a bunch of us to pursue our passion.
It started off with small dunes which made it quite tricky and technical. I was towards the end of the convoy in my Hard Top/SWB Golden Patrol Y61 Aka Safari. It gave me a birds eye view of the learnings of the others in the convoy so I knew how to approch those areas.
Learned quite a few rescue trips and how to pop a tire back on. Everything is explained so well and i am glad to have joined.
See you all back on the sand soon. Probably next week ;)
Thank you to the Marshals, Organizers and intermediates.

Hello everyone,
Hot drive!
The trail pretty smooth though, track had its ups and downs but the rhythm was going.
We finished up at 7 and to be fair I was pretty beat, the heat mist have done it’s job. The sitting area had a good breeze going for it so that took off some of the long day!
Looking forward to the next one!

Hi ALMOSTers,
I was in alshamsi_m convoy with Red Baron as second lead. I guess it’s already well said by other memebers so I will just summarise the take out for me from the drive.
1) Drive pace is determined based on area where we drive, more technical area keep 20 meters or more sometime. Read the terrain and keep proper distance and pace
2) Communication is never too much, communicate as much as you can especially in technical areas
3) Gravity is my friend, keep in mind
Thank you for all the organisers, marshals and ALMOST4X4 family for a wonderful drive.
Till next time
Cheers

Hey there Almosters!
Let's just say Smooth trail 4.0 wasn't so smooth on my Expedition TT TT
Most probably due to my inexperience so lesson learned in terms of keeping my eyes on the lookout for ditches after coming down dunes!
The trip was as exciting and thrilling as any other drive with Almost4x4. I was with the -5 Convoy lead by AlShamsi and RedBaron. The dunes were extremely technical compared to the CM Drive last weekend which was good because I felt challenged the whole time. We experienced how Pop-outs are dealt with and also the perils of queuing up closely uphill a sand dune.
While inflating the tires back after the drive, my Dad and I couldn't remove the valve stem on one of the tires. We might have over tightened it after deflating it. As a result, the valve got stuck and Rashidjass and some other extremely helpful members spend about an hour trying to fix it. We ended up having to drive with 1 tire at 11 psi to a tire shop where they put us back on the road with a hack job.
The Expedition also had its whole bumper ripped off and so will need to spend some time getting fixed up in the garage.
Overall, the trip was a great learning experience, especially for -5 newbies much like myself.
Hope to see you all on the sand again soon!
Cheers,
Haani

Hello Everyone
It was hot with wind so it felt like standing in huge hair dryer, you can stand up chit chat but you need a cold bottle of water and keep drinking while you are standing .
We had 4 types of drive today:
1. Soft sand : to feel the car
2. Soft small dunes: to learn how to push the car a little bit.
3. Dune crossing: to learn how to cross optical.
4. Long stretch: to enjoy off-roading and get familiar with the terrain.
The sitting after the drive was very nice with many members decided to stay and socialise .
Congratulations for all the new upgrades and looking forward to see you soon in sand.
Cheers

Hey Almosters,
It was nice to see so many people come despite the heat. I arrived to the meeting point 15 mins earlier, only to see around 20 cars already waiting. grin
This was the first time that my family joined on a drive. The day was full of action so they had a ton of fun. They got to witness recoveries, second tries, crested cars, and even gazelles. playingsmiley
I was sweeping in the 5- Convoy; one remark I would like to mention to our new members is to focus on maintaining the right distance. There were multiple occasions where the cars were way too close on climbs, or there was a huge gap in the convoy. Also, make sure to clear the area after a drop (danger zone), as the car doing the drop behind you may not see you.
Big thank you to the organizers; my family had an amazing time.
See you soon in the sand.

Hello Almosters,
Our convoy was off to a fairly slow start, because as soon as we hit the dunes, there were small dunes with sharp crests and soft sand, which caught out some members.
Everyone quickly re-checked their tyre pressures again, and we continued the drive.
We had a gentle drive, which lasted for around 3 hours, and our members got to experience soft sand, climbs with sharp crests, more drops and some open, flat areas.
These drives are designed to improve basic skills, which you will need as you increase your number of drives.
The chit chat after the drive was very nice, and due to the wind direction, we had fresh air to breathe, while enjoying @alshamsi_m 's fresh brewed coffee
Keep driving, keep having fun, and see you next time.
Regards,
Booy
