Summer Sandsation 2.0
I had an enjoyable night catching up at Turtles Camp, where we had a lovely breeze blowing most of the night. It was still pretty hot of course, but great to be camping again.
Waking up early, Strawb led us from Pink Rock on-time and at high speed back to the Summer Sandsation 2.0 meet point at Al Badayer shops. We all met up, and left precisely on-time led by Strawb with Mazaaj as sweep.
Almost immediately I struggled in the very soft sand, and had 2 stucks (thanks Bambam); and it was one of those occasions when I felt nothing was going right! I dropped my tyres a further 2 PSI to my normal pressure, and this gave a lot better traction and grip. Finally my confidence returned and I really enjoyed myself thereafter.
High dunes, a few tricky technical stuff, it was fast and fun, and around Super bowl we had time to play a bit. In summary I felt both me and the car had been for quite a serious ‘workout’ !
Many thanks to all the organisers

Unlike certain movies, where the sequel gets worse and worse, Summer Sandsation just gets better and better!
After meeting at Badayer, and doing a quick briefing we managed to start with the weather still cool, and drive with open windows for a while.
Strawb choose a perfect combination of speed, crests and high dunes...

just as he anticipated during the Turtles Camp.
We drove to Iftar Bowl and then to Super Bowl, where, Bam Bam was probably the first and only person to ever drive a Pajero that high up Super bowl! :050: ....Even higher than a Jk :010:
There were some struggles here and there, and the convoy got separated a few times, nevertheless it was a great trip after all!
Now we look forward to Summer Sandsation 3.0 or better Fall Sandsation 1.0 :-P
Thanks,
Raf

We started the morning with breakfast served by Strawb, a fast pacing drive from Turtles Camp, Pink Rock to Badayer Shops (Intermediate meeting point). And there we meet the rest of the lucky drivers who are invited to the drive. After a short briefing we again hit the sand led by Strawb and swept by Mazaaj. Technical, smooth track, soft sand, high dunes, Area 53, long cresting drive experience that leads us to Iftar & Super Bowl, we had a chance to play with precaution climbing the bowls. Some technical issues, few stucks & second tries but this never stop the fun & sandsation of this convoy. Once again a never-ending thank you strawb, Mazaaj, Founders & Crew, Advanced drivers & all the people involved and made this drive possible.
Looking forward to Summer Sandsation 3.0!
