hello guys!

i want to ask this since many of the members got Jeeps, how hard is to find parts for a Liberty!

am planing on buying one for off road drives as a starter i choose it as its engine and parts is similar to the Wrangler so i figured parts would be easy to find and inexpensive.

and if Jeep is not a good option for a beginner what you guys would recommend! am looking for a small and kind of a cheap car with easy to find parts as i think it will breakdown alot!

If you are looking for less expensive (20K to 40K) car then following options are available, prefer Manual transmission:
1. Wrangler TJ (1997-2006)
2. Nissan Pathfinder 2002 and onwards,
3. Jeep Cherokee

I think you should consider another car!
I can help you with some basic info about second hand car market
YJ jeep between 10 - 20 k (stay away from carburator), TJ jeep between 15-25k (not modified much) ; nissan patrol y60 model around 15-23 k (carburator is good but you will need alot of petrol!, so better stick with injector) y61 patrol around 25k up to 60k ; there is a decent amount of land roves too, mainly disco and Range rover, around 15-20k but you need an land rover enthusiast to help you out there! toyotas comes in many many models and very different prices (land cruiser, prado, hilux, surf, tundra, tacoma, Land cruiser 70); there are also small japanese suvs in the market like the TROOPER, older pajeros, diahatsu and suzukis they have very affordable prices and are tough but parts are very hard to find and expensive. there is also one more type of car, the heavy duty america SUV& pickups, they also come in different prices and models ( i dont know much about them, only that they have huge diesel and petrol engines that sound great)

All i know is there are two types of jeeps, 2004 and under! and 2005 and above; they are basically two different cars! go for 2004 and under!

am gonna start looking at a stock Pathfinders but will an automatic transmission be easier to drive with or its better with a manual one!

i got a 2009 Tahoe its big, heavy and fun i tried going off road with it but the front plastic bumber got damaged and i was worried it will get damaged!

Ofcourse, Manual would always be better.

if you gona stick to pathfinder as your option, caprihorse would be the best person to guide u

Pathfinder, manual transmission, 3.5L models, starting from 2001, be careful with 3.3L models, they are weak.
Tahoe bumper is falling down by itself, even not touching sand.

If you already think that your Jeep is breaking down a lot, than you better keep your hands off it! I think Jeep is great and if you just want it as a toy, go for TJ or JK Wrangler. I would not consider driving a Liberty off-road though I believe any car can be taken out.

American vehicle parts are NOT cheap, rather go with Japs. And manual is for sure more fun, but plan in some after market clutches just in case!:011:

I f you are planing to go for jeep and automatic transmission , your best choice will be the CHEROKEE XJ series ( 1997 to 2001 ) , concedering the following comparing to the liberty ,

1- its affordable ( less than 20 k )
2- second hand parts are available and cheap ( engine 1800 dh , transmission 700 dh ....etc. )
3- automatic transmission is good and powerful , comparing to other jeep models .
4- modification items are variable and reasonably priced .
5- stronger body , heavy duty mechanism when comparing to the liberty .

The only issue you will face in offroading with XJ is the overheating problem , which can be solved with our experience .

cool... but id stick to Pathfinder 3.5 i dont want to struggle with the overheating of the XJ because id be driving it as a stock car not planing for any mods until i get the hang of off road driving =)
