Sharjah: Sharjah Police have been directed to permanently confiscate noisy and modified vehicles that disturb the peace in the emirate's neighbourhoods.
The orders came yesterday from His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammmad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
The order is to come into effect immediately in order to maintain a sense of safety and calm in the emirate. Those found violating the rule will have their vehicles confiscated by police.
He also ordered Sharjah Police to take immediate and strict action against negligent and reckless motorists that cause deliberate disturbances in neighbourhoods. The confiscated vehicles will not be returned to the owners under any condition.

According to the new rule, automobile workshops and other facilities will be closed down if they are found to be responsible for modifying exhaust systems or providing any other facility that allows a vehicle's engine to produce loud sounds.
In response to the new directives issued by Shaikh Sultan, Major-General Humaid Al Hudaidi, Chief of Sharjah Police, said that it is the responsibility of stakeholders to cooperate with police.
"The decision was made with the interests of residents and to protect the owners of such vehicles, who may lose their lives in accidents caused by modifying their engines and exhaust systems," Maj. Gen. Al Hudaidi said.
He said the order will be implemented immediately across the emirate.

I'm curious how this rule will apply to Big Red area, as it belongs to Sharjah Emirate territory...

Does it mean no more "ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta" on Friday afternoon for Patrols with X000 HP? :011:

ok problem spotted but the solution is already here :P a friend of mine has installed it and really works.
It won't make the noise as low as a stock sedan car but atleast it will make it acceptable by the authorities (hopefully :)

The main reasons behind this order is not to disturb the people in their houses or while enjoying the quietness in the park. We should be more careful next time when we come to the meeting point specialty Emirates petrol station in sharjah - kalba road or near Al Bedayer

120 modified vehicles confiscated in Sharjah
Cars registered in other emirates will not be spared under new order as workshops face closure if found in violation

Sharjah: As many as 120 vehicles were permanently confiscated yesterday after a new order was implemented in the emirate of Sharjah to prohibit motorists from disturbing the peace in neighbourhoods.
According to a Sharjah Police official, the new rule is also applicable to vehicles that are registered in other emirates.
"Since the order was announced, we have confiscated more than 100 vehicles, including cars and quad bikes, whose engines [were modified] to make loud noises," the official said.
He stressed that the confiscated vehicles will not be returned to owners under any circumstances.
The new rule was issued by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who instructed Sharjah Police on Tuesday to permanently confiscate vehicles and motorbikes with modified exhaust systems that disturb the peace across the emirate's neighbourhoods.
According to the new rule that has been put into effect immediately, automobile workshops and other facilities will be closed down if they are found to be responsible for modifying exhaust systems or providing any other facility that allows any vehicle's engine to be louder than usual.
"Within one hour after the order was announced, Sharjah Police immediately confiscated a large amount of vehicles that were found to be flouting the rules," Major-General Humaid Mohammad Al Hudaidi, Chief of Sharjah Police, said yesterday.
Maj Gen Al Hudaidi also held discussions with the heads of police patrols on how to eliminate the practice of modifications in cars, quad bikes and motorcycles.
"These incidents tend to increase during summer as the youth are not in school, and spend their time in auto workshops, adding devices that modify their engines and exhaust systems," Maj Gen Al Hudaidi said.
Great disturbance
"Such modifications cause a great disturbance to residents and also pose a safety hazard to motorists who drive recklessly and ultimately, put their own lives at risk," he added.
Maj Gen Al Hudaidi emphasised that Shaikh Sultan's directive had authorised police to permanently confiscate all vehicles in the emirate if they are found to have been modified and cause unruly disturbances.

Hello all,

I spoke to the Traffic Department today, they informed only the exhaust systems with loud noise are not allowed, where if the sound is reasonable then it's not a problem.

also they informed me if it's installed in the agency with certificate, those people can visit the traffic department in Al-Ramtha Area, and a police officer will check the sound level, if it's accepted, then it's not an issue.

Translation:

"Some people might ask if the new confiscation rules will be applied in Al Bedayer or Al Faya and the answer is yes"
