Hi all
Usually off-roaders put oil engine(5000) which is the best for extreme conditions but for a trip that will have hours of non stop drive it is recommended to use 10000 and save yourself the hassle of thinking about the oil changing

Omanis typically welcome all currencies, you don't need to worry, just have enough DHS cash
Cross the border with empty tank, as Omani petrol is cheaper :meta knight:

Here are few points to share.
1-Everyone cannot get visa on the border unless you have a designation of supervisor or above on passport. Sometimes they refuse without any reason. It is always better idea to get visa from embassy instead off.
2-Immigration officer (at Waqqan entry point) may ask to use credit card for payment. They can refuse to accept cash.
3-Salalah is 1300 km (lump-sum) from Dubai. Oil change can’t be an issue if you change it before you set out.
4-There are hidden cameras in Ibri.Control your speed while crossing Ibri. There are also paparazzi in Salalah city.
5-You can get Omani cell phone sim card by providing photocopy of your passport. You can get it from Ibri. But this option will not work for this trip. Because you will be crossing Ibri at midnight. Second option is Salalah.
6-There are four petrol stations from Ibri to T junction (Muscat Salalah Road).Distance is 230km(lump- sum).Three more you will find in next 650 km on Muscat-Salalah road.Fourth one you will find about 75 km before SALALAH.
7-I will strongly recommend to use protection paint on your car during this trip. You will realize the difference once you will be back.Someone asked about Touba to get this paint.Touba is an out-let in sharjah ( near maza signal) on BMW road in industrial area.It is 3 km from sahara center on same road.
8-Drinking of natural water from hills/water falls cannot be a good idea as most of time it is having pathogenic becterias.
9-Do not forget to get some booklets/rout maps from the tourist counter at Waqqan immigration post. Sometimes this literature very helpful.
This is true that me and Fida made booking in the same hotel but we were not lucky to join this long distance trip.I pray for all of you for safe completion of this trip.Waiting for pictures.See you.

Thank you for the info...
