While drive a manual, with the purpose that the Defender was built for, i was not surprised!
Also this one had on A/C at all, but really luxury was not on mind at all!!!
@amit
No A/c....works when you live in GB.....not in UAE!
Just buy anything Japanese!

Checked out another Defender 110 Crew Cab...88 model Asking fro 20K and in amazing condition!!! The best part bout the defenders is the body is made by some kind of aluminium allow which makes it rust proof and also strong, So can drill a hole anywhere on the body and fix any extras!!
But need to check the under-body and chassis as these are places where you can find rust!!
Had a problem with the power stearing but waiting to get it checked by a mechanic.
Also trying to find out the AGE rule, I guess there is some rule that cars older than 20 years cannot be registered but have seen old cars registered...so need to check and confirm!
Also checking out the Nissan Double Cab pick up, 2.4 L maybe Caprihorse can throw some light on this option.

On my earlier Jag, power steering started to leak, Al Tayer wanted from me 8K for the whole rack, as there was no kit as it is typical for other cars. So with the mechanic, we were trying all kind of oil seals, valued between 10 and 50 Dhs, but it always started to leak after few months. BTW the best were from Iran :)
Nissan pickup, 2.4L is good for off-road streets inside the Sharjah city industrial area, but definitely not good for the desert.

Found this Single cabin defender, 1996 Model... very nice. But i understand Pick Up's cannot be registered on individuals name in sharjah. Is anyone aware a way of working around this rule.

Defender.. O.. Defender, a lovely car to behold indeed.. but, with the lack of spare parts, and no a/c and from what I hear not so great acceleration (heavy) it isn't what you want to be riding in the desert..
On a personal note, I think it is the best looking and coolest 4x4 ever..
