Great trip. I was in a convey which was led by Al Shamsi and sweep by Hamdan. It was a fast pace drive from Al Badayer to Iftar Bowl.
This was an amazing drive through very soft sand and a number of tricky , technical patches. We maintained a quick pace through the entire drive and all members drove extremely well. We had just one stuck and only 3 pop-outs. We got a comprehensive training on fixing pop-out from Shamsi and then few exercises , thanks to Mcap.

Thanks Almost4x4 for organizing such a wonderful trip.

I was in Bu Saleems group which started nice a slowly then worked up into a frenzy of Pop-outs!

It was great to see some some potentially very difficult situations resolved effortlessly by the team under Bu Salems instruction, and Hamdans watchful eye!
Some great driving, dune climbing and sliding, One stuck and three Pop-outs !

I learnt a few things this trip -

It's more fun at the front !
Sometimes you don't need to spin all your wheels to get traction on the sand, and being gentle on the throttle at the right time is equally effective - if not more so.
Don't drop or throw shackles or any other small heavy items into the sand, they get lost easily.
Don't leave it too late to change down from 2nd to 1st when your about to climb a big dune, think ahead and change early.
If your going to act as a mobile air compressor, get money before you provide air : )

Best quote from the trip was during the first Pop-out tutorial from Bu Saleem - "Don't dig like a coolie ! "

Great trip guys, and much respect to all of the Marshalls for the organisation !!

Thanks again Bu Saleem for leading and Hamdan for sweeping - see you in the sand soon.

Yes to face one :) looking forward to my next trip :)

  • Look always ahead, to other cars, not only below the bumper of the car in front of you

One thing I wanted to ask you on this trip....... when we are on a big dip like this trip where all you can see it the hood and sand in front of it........... how do you look up and find the car ahead of you..... as the other car is expected to be either on the climb or at a safe distance from you...... I tried but all I could see was more sand :) and general idea on how to cope with such situation will be great.

Thanks for your wise suggestion and putting me in CM drive learnt CM techniques but in newbie way helped me follow the track and read the dune in the last leg of the trip as you were a couple of dunes away and I had a battalion of CMs behind my back with support of Lamboo and Yoghy ofcoures but I liked it :0

Stick your head out of the window to your left very quickly and look up. This technique works well provided you have the window open already, otherwise you will see stars!

:ouch...it hurts:

Hi Mubz,

In this scenario , it would be safer to check on the radio if the car ahead has cleared ,before proceeding.
