It was a very cool morning for starters, which is a good omen for drives to come.
Fast pace drive, we had a number of sticks but nothing too serious that couldn’t be handled by the rescue crew.
Gotta say, I absolutely love being in the front, over the countless times that iam auto assigned to the back, it’s a refreshing experience being put in the front.
Thanks everyone for the drive and eagerly waiting for the next one!

Hi All,
Mega thanks to Rashidjass s for organizing the trip & the choice of the area – SWEIHAN. It was amazing. thumbsup
It was my 2nd 10+ drive. This time lead by Rashid bro and the experience were wonderful, completely different than what we have been doing so far. The drive was a like a combo platter with a bit of everything. Fast paced, some side cresting, technical areas, few stucks, a pop out. I had one second try when I saw Abu Odai in my front sliding after a small side crest and applying brakes since in front of him, Kareem had stopped due to some sudden tech snag. So, to avoid hitting Abu Odai I had to do a 2nd round to make bigger the gap between the cars.
Maintain the distance, right speed and momentum is what I always said to myself rest the fj will handle. As our chief said, its ok to get stuck or make multiple attempts rather than flying, loosing control over the car which could eventually lead to roll over.
thanks to all the rescue and support crew for watching over us making sure our safety.!

Till next time!

i love Sweihan, its a perfect desert where you can practice everything in it. there are small technical dunes, high and sharp dunes and very beautiful arches. i was in Rashidjass convoy and i was lucky to be sweeping coz i was trying my new bigger tires. the drive in general was very smooth. we stopped only few times and luckily we had no drama. we had one pop out which amazingly was fixed in less than 10 minutes. thanks to Arminjune we learned a new technique in handling the pop outs.
it was such a nice day with pleasant weather and the best company of Almost4x4 family.
till we meet next time thumbsup

Super fun
, new things learned, exitement, adrenaline, beautiful surroundings and a great bunch of people. This is how I can discribe Friday morning.
I was in Abu Salem"s convoy with his "silver fox" aka Jimmy and happy to report that I was one of those who got stuck on a crest - thanks to Solmaz who guided me out. The reason for getting stuck was quickly pointed out by Abu Salem and corrected - Listening to experience is always a winner!! I enjoyed testing my car. However, the "cherry on the cake" was at the Nagrah Dune when Abu Salem took over the driver's seat of my car and taking it to a whole different level. It was fantastic!! and I quickly realized my car passed the test with not much effort. Me on the other hand.......still have a bit to go to reach this level.
Thanks for Rashid for a well organised drive and for all the Marshals Crew, Intermediates, etc. for your support.
Attached, please find a photo taken by Rainier at the meeting point and Nagrah Dune.
Hope to see you soon.

What a great drive !!
I had an amazing time on Friday and then Saturday morning was the payback time to write the report. I did that on my phone and tapped the submit button forgetting to copy the text as a backup, then abracadabra! All is lost. I decided not to retype and redo the report, but I cooled-off a bit and have some spare time now. Here it goes:
We received the PMs with the pre-set three convoy groups. I think this was the first time since I joined, so thanks for great preparation to Rashidjass. We also received the PMs with the instruction of not to deflate at the meeting point. Having both combined, I thought we would have some kind of a challenge, or different kind of fun. But the reason turned out to be simple: just driving few more kilometers on the tarmac to reach the starting point. You see, the club always surprises you!!
I was fifth in the convoy led by Rashidjass . This was my second drive after the tire/lift mods and it was a re-confirmation how much the performance changes. If I had the stock settings I am sure i would have a few stucks, second tries and lots of fish tails. Having said that, I still managed to have a second try. The crest was quite steep and we were instructed not to fly as it would be quite dangerous and risk of roll-over. I slowed down just short of a meter or so before the crest and nearly got crested. Since I did not push to move forward, the car did not dig-in and then I easily reversed and had a second go.
Arminjune helped all the newbies to pass this challenging crest. He then give very detailed instructions to the last car in the convoy how to approach and pass the dune. Yoghybear chose not to follow the instructions but instead he took the role of a personal trainer at the back of the wheel and helped Arminjune to have his morning jog on top of the dunes!
At the later part of the drive, I wanted to give a little bit more distance to the car in front of me as we were doing relatively high speed arches and fast turns. At one of the turns, i briefly hesitated on which track to chose while the car in front is still at sight then I chose the long path. Within seconds I heard Aligi reporting he does not see the car behind. I closed the gap in a few seconds but it was a great communication by Aligi, thumbs-up!
I took my wife for the first time in the previous drive and she enjoyed quite a lot. This one, I had my daughter for the first time. When I asked her which part was her favorite, she said the last 20 minutes. This is the dunes we drove when Rashidjass said we would go back and drive a bit more and JockJKU replied "lets show them the real Sweihan"
For me, all good from the point I leave home until we say goodbye to each other.
Big thanks to everyone from the organizers, leaders to the rescue team and the fellow one starred drivers...
Cheers...

What a Day, full of excitement and awesome company.
it felt we started a bit late, but talking to friends made it pass.
I was in Rashidjass convoy, amazing group, few second tries and I think one stuck one pop corn.
we did one sharp crest which eventually became sabkha after all crossed over it.
was a bit challenging since I didn't have AC, and when we reached the farms catch road, I asked to take of different direction to go home, once all said good bye, I here Rashidjass saying, ok now we do 20 more minutes on the dunes, I did couple of donuts to manage getting a turn back to them. I wasn't going to miss that 20 min, his leave was so good that no AC was worth it.
Thanks all for making it great event

What can I say... it was amazing! Very much worth the early morning trip. I was very excited as this was my first drive in this area. I think there's a drive again on Sweihan by end of Sept but I can't wait for that. I was with alshamsi_m's convoy. We were I think the smallest convoy in the 3 convoys of that day. I struggled when we started as the dunes are very sharp. Got stuck and thanks to Saeed FJ for the rescue! Am I your first rescue? grin I really need to learn how to approach the crest with proper speed and angle. In the latter part of the drive I was getting the hang of it. Too fast and the risk of roll over is high. As mentioned by alshamsi_m it's better to get stuck than fly! Thanks for the wise words as always.
The area was amazing. When you look at the dunes they are very beautiful and sometimes you forget to focus on the drive. A lot of learning for sure. Thanks to Rashidjass for organizing and to all marshalls, crew and rescue!
See you all again!

With the slight dip in mercury, it was a lovely Friday morning to learn with the Almost Family.
This was my 1st visit to the astoundingly beautiful desert of Sweihan & I reached a new low….. wink of tyre pressure grin
In some parts the sand was really soft & I was digging in causing me to make a few 2nd tries & get stuck, so I deflated lower & found it easier to cope. thumbsup
@Daggerfall set the pace across a nice fast track along arcs & side slopes with climbs in quick succession followed by technical areas…& the region was varied with fresh sharp crests.
Following the track was key as one wrong move could get you in a sticky situation & we were reminded of this multiple times by @Daggerfall & @Barish.
Distance & momentum were equally important.
On one occasion I got stuck at a precarious angle while trying to climb to the lip of a dune to cross over to the other side…. without the right momentum , I was safely guided out by @Agalon, @Issa , @Hamza, @Barish, & @Raja.
Thank you guys for your support!! XD
It started warming up towards the end & we finished right on time after letting off steam @ Nagra
Looking forward to One tyre in Air playingsmiley
Thanks to all the Marshalls & Crew who made this drive so much fun! have a nice day
