Reached meeting point at 7:30am and deflate. We starts at 8:05am and proceeded at a swift pace through the powder soft sand and ascended to the top of Fossil Rock , followed by a steady descent down the steep. After that we move towards Camel Rock, Al-Faya, Pink Rock, Big-Red and finally Al Badayer Shops at 10:55am.
It was a smooth and fast pace drive with only one pop-out and few second rounds . Thanks Almost4x4 for such a memorable trip.

Catch Me if you Can - a great title for this drive. A first thought was that this referred to Marshalls leading the way across challenging terrain at a fast pace, which was true but in my case it was the Desert who caught me. More of that later.
I arrived early at the meeting point to find Ginger there and preparing for the drive. Shortly afterwards, other drivers and marshalls appeared and the buzz of anticipation was in the air. Yoghy gathered everyone from the first convoy together and gave the briefing, short - sharp - and to the point. We would be challenged, the pace would be quick, and there were areas where many had been caught in the past. We set off on time and very shortly came across Fida's ditch, where Red Shark in second lead got caught and suffered some issues with his car; transfer case selector lever was damaged and had to be removed by Hockey. Once out of the ditch, Red Shark had to retire, sadly. A couple of other stucks on exit of Fida's ditch for the rest and on we went heading towards Fossil Rock, where we came across a tricky short dune, causing a few second rounds. I was last in the convoy and managed to get through the narrow exit, but must have dislodged my front right tyre as about 500 yards further on, on the flat, I suffered my first ever pop out. I quickly recovered and then caught up with the rest of the convoy at the base of Fossil Rock ascent. A few struggled to make the climb, and I had a seconmd attempt too as my route was too low, made the top to see the amazing view, my first time on Fossil Rock. The remainder of the cars made the top and we started the descent one by one.
Now my second nightmare began - shortly after starting the fast pace run towards Camel Rock I suffered a second pop out, this time on the left front tyre. Strawb was behind me at the time and 'urging' me on. Looking back at the video footage, it isnt obvious to me why the pop out happened, so I am editing the footage (to include the first pop out also) for Marshalls and others to have a look at to see why? I am fully aware that it is largely driver error when popouts happen, but I have never had one before and I dont think I was driving any differently to normal. Anyway, suffice to say I was now very wary of what was occurring. Very shortly afterwards Dave joined the first pop out club too. Just to add further to my pain for the day, I had a third pop out, on the front left tyre again, and after discussion with Abu Jimmy, increased the pressure to 8psi on both fronts, no further problems.
Drifter had started to struggle with temperature issues on his XJ, and as time was dragging on, at 11am Yoghy and Abu Jimmy made the decision to head back to Al Badayer on a quick route, which made sense. I was mentally drained due to my sufferings today. So - to all other drivers please accept my apologies for the delays I caused, and I hope that my nightmare day was a one off and situation normal will return next time out.
Many thanks to Yoghy, Abu Jimmy, Strawb, Rashid Jass and Hockey for the planning and support for this drive, and congrats to the other drivers of convoy one who took part. See you in the sand soon.
