Another Great day in the desert..we gathered in Kalba road Emirates petrol station and the weather was a bit cold in the morning except for Alshamsi since he was wearing a T-Shirt only.
Later on we drove around 20 kms to the deflating point where Alshamsi gave an excellent briefing about the useful and recommended off-roading tools. I remembered before joining Almost4x4 I bough a lot of unnecessary non-rated tools (I hope Capri will not read this) as I had no experience about it...again thx to Bu Salem.

After we finished the tools briefing I moved my convoy "SF3" out of the group to give them a fast briefing about the truck and reminding them of basic safety regulations of driving in the desert. I was leading with the help of Alkhatib in sweeping with Zico and Kallas. The truck was around 21 kms starting in Capri land and we ended up in Taiba Petrol Station passing by fossil rock and the camel rock..no stuck no pop-outs..good drivers..good people.

Thank you for joining us and see you in the desert very soon.

note: You can find some pictures in almost4x4 facebook page.
Thx again mazaaj....was wondering something though, why didn't we go down the other side of fossil rock? Was it too much for our level?

Hi there! Thanks to all for the effort and the company! My first experience with the club was great! Just back from the shop where I have bought some missing pieces of gear. Looking forward to new trips. Cheers!

Hello family members.... First of all I would like to thank Al Shamssi and strawb for the excellent lead and sweeper positions and all the other members for an excellent morning.
we only did few dunes but amazing drops... and for this I must say thank you to AlShamsi and strawb as this actually took the fear out from me personally in terms of going downhill. Having a LWB I managed to get stuck twice, right on the edge of the dune... but Strawb was there to recover me, thanks Strawb.

Second lesson learnt, ALWAYS HAVE A FLAG ON YOUR CAR. I just missed a near hit when i was just on the downhill of a dune after the recovery and the following car thought I was gone... and all of a sudden we see him on the edge of the dune ready to come downhill into me :zomg:

Now that I have got all the equipment required ... Looking forward to the next newbie trip..

**EDIT**

Second most important thing to carry while offroading: a WALKIE TALKIE :)

Tc till then
c u all soon

Hello All,

Thanks to the Explorers and Marshals for sharing your time and knowledge! It is very much appreciated. This being my first time out with almost4x4 I was very impressed with the emphasis on safety. It was great getting to know new people and I am very much looking forward to getting back out there.

I will not disappoint you, I'm reading all the stuff :redbullsmiley:

Good note for all off-roading freaks, who think that before spending wife's Christmas and kids budget on so called tools, they cannot join trips with our family...

We know it from the past and we don't risk at your level. If you would go now down there, probably you would see not only one MDG in person :yarr:

Hi Almosters,

First of all a big thanks for Almost 4 X 4. I was in SF 2 convoy. This was my first experience as a driver. I am very impressed with the Marshals and the senior members taking care of the freshers like me. I like the introductory session for the tools. I bought few unrated tools and I got right information form the session. In the drive I couldn't climb different dunes at 3 times and towed 1 time. All the time the sweepers came to assist and explained how to approach the situation. A big thanks to
the sweepers (sorry... I don't remember his name. Only by face.) I got few knowledge from the trip and I know this is a cup from the desert, but it is a big amount for me.
I am very happy and looking forward to attend the next trip.

Regards,

Arun

to describe my first drive with such prestigious club like Almost4x4 by talk is different than by writing which is am so failure with.

driving behind Alshamsi was an extra pleasure and as per him he just control his angel side to treat us softer accordingly, thanks for your patience.

everything turned into wonderful when I follow Alshamsi instruction especially when he advised me to keep my passenger quiet and not to listen to any one, using the radio was so adventurer too.

thanks to everybody for this trip.
