Break-in: at what mileage did you take your new 4x4 to the desert??

My brand new Nissan has done 2200 km and I need to take it to the desert badly)?
I know there is a manual that has the break-in period requirements, but desert driving is a extraordinary load on the engine and I'm very skeptical :022: It says 2000 km and you are basically done with break-in.
So, at what mileage did you take your new 4x4 to the desert??
No "Drive it like you stole it" kind of recommendation plz :011:

I took my car to the desert after 800 km and I drove it in intermediate level before 2000km.. No mercy :011:

yup....full agree with Naser....I got my RAM on Thursday late afternoon, on Saturday I was already in the desert......:011:

I took my Jeep in with 800km on it.
I tried to me a little conservative on the rpm.....
I went on 2 'baby' drives with Gorgin which were slow and short in the Khawaneej area.
They were mainly for me to learn the car, and second for the engine.
Admittedly the car has 'come alive' at about 4000km, after an oil change. I would guess that of the 4000km, 800 to 1000km was on the sand. The oil was really black and i wish i had changed it earlier. 1000km of dune driving is probably like 20000km of highway driving.

Thank you, Paul. I took it for a one dune climb @ around 1200 km (big red) and it did great given the 4000 rpm limit I put to myself. Having said that, I have changed the oil & filter @ 800 km then, another one with a filter @ 2100.

I took my Nissan, after 5000 km to the desert. However I was cruising in UAE on tarmac for 2 weeks (I was very eager to get into sands as soon as possible), to get mileage and to learn my car behaviour. And I think it was the right decision to get some 'sit-in' for all the parts. Until today my car needed repairs just for suspension, which is quite normal, when it is driven every weekend.

LOL...my FJ had around 300 KM on it when it was doing its first desert drive

I tried my toy after 1000 km on off-road without knowing that there is a nice button you have to press before you go off-reading which resulted of nice fireworks in the car + surprise gift of side curtains + slap on the face ... = 25 k repair :036:
