A really fun, fast, varied, classic-Yoghybear drive in a relatively new area for me. It was great to see old friends again, after a few weeks away. A little ‘rusty’ at first, but I had a privileged position in the convoy and got back into it quickly, really enjoying the side-cresting and fast pace. There were some testing technical sections; and I was a annoyed with myself for getting a popout (silly mistake taking the wrong line and I could see it coming as well!).
The herds of gazelle were an amazing sight, and arriving at the popular al Qudra lakes was a shock to see so many cars and people (after the emptiness of the rest of the drive). Many thanks to the organisers and I look forward to driving more it that area.

Keeping the report brief, we were about 11 cars starting near Al Faqaa farms at 2pm sharp. From there it was about 30km as the crow flies (straight line!) to our finish point, Qudra Lakes. As @Yoghybear was leading, we would not be flying like a crow, more like a dizzy falcon! The terrain varied from mid sized dunes, subkah plains, egg basket bowls and soft sharp crests.

As @Arminjune stated, as a convoy we moved in a steady fluid motion. Safe distance was kept, radio communication was informative and the occasional second attempt caused little if any delays. Breaks were fast and efficient. No time was wasted sitting around. As @Orlanstev mentioned, the weather was perfect so we all wanted to drive as much as time would allow.

70% into the drive we had an aftermarket shock fail on @Iqsaan Prado. I left the convoy and escorted Iqsaan to the near by solar farm where we finished up with some tea! In my absence someone fed @ginger nuts so he had another pop out!! Sorry @ginger! We regrouped by the Qudra Lakes for sunset. A great finish to a fantastic Almost4x4 afternoon. Great lead by @Yoghybear. Sweep by @Arminjune, and @fida when Armin was cleaning up his jeep! @Iqsaan did a great 2nd lead until Mr Fox Shocks let him down. And all the Intermediates performed great. Safe and professional. Well done everyone. On a side note, for a Friday this route was perfect. Not too far a journey to start point, great finish point. And no traffic in between except for a herd of Gazelle. Thanks @Yoghybear for avoiding Al Badayer!

A huge thank you to Roberto for agreeing to my participation and being gracious enough to allow me to second lead .
The weather was wonderful but paled in comparison to the company and track ...
It was great meeting Dave , Armin , Fida , Michael and the rest of the intermediate convoy .

I hope this is a first step in forging a better relationship between our two clubs .
We are not rivals but likeminded individuals that share a deep rooted passion for the same sport .

What an amazing trip.. Thank you Yoghybear for the fast and short trip. Nice area with nearly no tracks far from Badayer and Faya whch I would assume it is disaster by now. reached around 1:40pm and most of the gang were already chatting!! First time I see Arminjune jeep clean with nearly 70% empty trunk and for those who does not know him this is wired as you will find ACE Hardware stocks in his car from woods, bags, heater, cooler, Christmas tree, garden tools, many chairsssss, ...etc and this time he had loud speakers fixed outside his car so you could enjoy his clutch music - this is why your passenger could it manage it.

Started on Swiss clock sharp at 2:15pm nice flat area then technical dunes with some soft sand, thanks for the sweep team.. great picture Dave especially for the jeeps.

Hello,

I am not sure if the track itself made this trip interesting and fun or following Yoghybear on it made it so :)

When you are behind him even the very small dunes in the middle of the subkah plains becomes a challenge because of his speed and big dune ironing machine :) which runs over and flattens every dune on its way easily and I was on the other hand trying to tackle those dunes with the best possible technique to avoid any major damage to my stock FJ which has relatively less clearance comparison to its modified buddies :)). I took some hits but survived the day, and I think in the end this helped me to improve my skills.

Everyone did well in general. We reached the target as planned . Iqsaan did great as a second lead but you took more hits when you get closer to the lead . Unfortunately his shocks failed him and he had to leave. Hope it is nothing major and would like to see you with us again!

Thanks to all participated for this nice afternoon ride and see you next time.

I am considering to publish a video shortly. Unfortunately I couldn't capture the fist half which I believe we had more fun. :(

Thanks & Regards

Mohammed, Are you alright ? I had to ask finally as there was no sign of @Mohammed once I left him behind thinking that the climb was not very difficult. But when it was late, I thought let me check. After-all he was driving a Jeep:whistle:.

We could not ask better ingredients to make a day such beautiful and enjoyable than this. Perfect weather, lovely friends, Virgin sand, @Yoghybear Leading, @ginger getting pop-out, @orlantsev getting crested twice, one interesting self recover by @Defragmantor and few 2nd tries. The most impressive was the professional seclection of track by Yoghybear. A true intermediate level (maybe an advance level for some other clubs). Well done mate, you were spot on while keeping the level appropriate to convoy experience. Thank you @Dave and @Arminjune for your periodic sweeps. Its always lovely to drive with you all.

@Iqsan, it was nice to see you after a long time. Hope there isnt any major damage to your car.

As many of you have damaged shock absorbers , transmissions and engines in the desert and undersrand these situation having experienced them first hand , I thank you for your sympathetic tone .
I am glad to report that the only damage is a broken shock absorber pin and the installer has agreed to replace the shock under warranty .
fida I thank you once again for your concern.

As it was an intermediate drive I wasn't expecting anything too serious
