Another amazing Friday afternoon with Almost! We started a drive at 2 pm from Al Faqa. It was mostly the group of regulars led by Yoghybear. It was his typical style with non-stop side cresting. The dunes were varied from mid –size to egg basket type. Unfortunately one car had to retire due to mechanical issue and Dave took care that the driver was escorted to the safe area. Even there were some second attempts the delays were mostly minimal and we finished by the Qudra lake even slightly ahead of planned finish time. It was one of the drive which I did not want to finish as the weather was perfect and everybody was in great mood. At the lakes we witnessed many families and plenty opportunities to practice recovery. It was a pleasure seeing all again.

as always @Yoghybear never disappoints.

before I start, lets say this was the first time I wanted to keep my car cleaned from anything. for first time I had my windows up.

The convoy starts and being a sweeper I was last car with my passenger @
Melfi, 5 sec or less when convoy moved I had accident, my Passenger (keeping it annonymose) has not been in desert for a while, and she basically was newbie as passenger. she did one thing right, she put the window down, but somehow she managed to spit out and make it come all in my face and my seat. don't ask me how, Im still trying to figure it out.

after short brake, she hands me a Coke, and guess what happens 5 sec after convoy moves, I have Coke splash all over me and my seat, I wonder who shook it before giving it to me hmmm. Thanks to @
fida saved me a bit

then comes the next brake, by now, I was spitty, Sticky, and had windows down to dry, and convoy starts moving and crossing small dune in front of me. @orlantsev decided he need to floor it harder on the Crest and half of that dune was in my car.

so much for keeping my car clean. :D

Thanks to @ginger for tangerine always freshening and always great to have you in convoy.

We had one stuck one, one popout. many second tries. but the paste and speed was maintained, basically everyone did there second tries as pro, its like we all knew everyones style and was fast thinking. we did not pile up in one place, and maintained distance. thumbs up to all on this @Daggerfall, @Defragmantor, @Eric, @Mohammad, @Solmaz.

@Dave were in front, based on how the convoy went, I can say well done on keeping the track interesting.

See you guys next trip

A really fun, fast, varied, classic-Yoghybear drive in a relatively new area for me. It was great to see old friends again, after a few weeks away. A little ‘rusty’ at first, but I had a privileged position in the convoy and got back into it quickly, really enjoying the side-cresting and fast pace. There were some testing technical sections; and I was a annoyed with myself for getting a popout (silly mistake taking the wrong line and I could see it coming as well!).
The herds of gazelle were an amazing sight, and arriving at the popular al Qudra lakes was a shock to see so many cars and people (after the emptiness of the rest of the drive). Many thanks to the organisers and I look forward to driving more it that area.
