Dear All,

It was another amazing and enjoyable drive with Almost4x4. Infact I took to sand after about 5-6 months due to certain personal pressing reasons. Hence I was initially rusted and not doing that good for the first couple of minutes and then slowly things settled down for me.

The route was nice and interesting, mix of easy areas, slight challenges and some technical dunes thrown in as well. The marshalls planned sufficient stops, especially keeping in mind the fact that some of the drivers were relatively new. Zico got 'Chai' for all at 2nd December, THANKS!.

While there were many high points in the drive, however I would especially like to mention one that really touched me. As we reached Fossil Rock for the looong drop, Zico was there helping each driver by giving some critical instructions like managing speed, using brakes sensibly etc. This would happen each driver stopped by Zico just before beginning the long descend. I noticed Zico was very patient and detailed with each driver though it was repetitive (and hence perhaps boring) for him. When my turn came he asked me 'Is this your first time on this drop?' I told him that I was doing this second time. He still seemed a little concerned and perhaps felt the need to guide me. I could sense some anxiety on his face. Then he asked 'Did you do it last time with me?' I said not with you but yes first time was also with Almost4x4. On hearing this his face kind of eased and lightened up and he just said 'Ok, then you know what to do' and he let me go. Surely I had a safe descend. However this small interaction touched me in so many ways. Firstly his concern about the safety of each driver and then his confidence in the guidance that would have been given previously by another Almost 4x4 marshal. He never asked me who was the marshal in the previous drive. He just heard 'Almost' and let me go, fully assured that irrespective of who the marshal would have been the previous time, I would have been guided sufficiently and appropriately.

I guess it speaks volumes about the strong internal processes, Systems and mutual trust, within Almost4x4. :045:

Before I end this post, let me not miss out on all those who made this drive a fantastic one..... Mazzaj to start with, Hockey, Momo, Zico for all the active support and guidance and surely all the co-drivers for the camaradrie and fun.

Looking forward to fly with Almost4x4 again in near future.

Cheers!

Good Morning Everyone,

Firstly thanks to Mazaaj and the other Marshals & support drivers for looking after everyone on this drive, the route was nice and easy but requiring a little extra momentum on some of the larger dunes. I think this caught a few people out and it made the large convoy stretch out quite a bit so distance between cars became a bit of a problem, not being able to see 2 cars in front makes you less able to judge the speed required and for the car in front of me who couldn't see anybody on occasion, this meant he was almost leading the 2nd half of the convoy having to make his own judgement of speed.

This is of course all down to experience and we will tighten up and get better as convoy drivers the more we do it, I was guilty of following too closely a couple of times which meant if the car in front had difficulties I was in an awkward position.

All in all a great morning, the Karak was very much appreciated especially with the early set off!

Cheers,

Matt

I agree with you, once a driver is leaving a big gab between his car and the car infront of him, thus he will not be able to see how the drive was done. then if the distance became more long, then he will became the lead driver, and if he choose wrong path, all the cars behind him will follow, and also if he did a wrong dangerous approach to dune, then also everyone behind him will follow, and this is risky.
you know that drivers having a big trust in the driver infront of them, to count on them to deliver the drive style that done by the marshal lead in the front of the convoy.

On the other hand, not keeping distance having a different type of risk, you might cause an accident or get stock if the driver infront of you reduce his speed while climing the dune, or doing side one.

bottom line, the drive was fun and we learned alot from our mistakes and others mistakes. the Fossil rock dropping was very cool, can't wait to do it again.

regards.

Good morning Almosters,

First of all, I want to express my gratitude to @Mazaaj for having me as his passenger, Thanks @Mazaaj for all the advises and the hospitality you provided.
Being with the marshal in the leading vehicle, made me realize how hard is to lead the convoy, to chose the right path to take based on the capabilities of the vehicles and the drivers as well, @Mazaaj was always thinking about the other cars and he was exploring few paths each time before he decides which one to go with, these efforts are really appreciated and made me really happy to be a part of ALMOST4x4.
I drove only once with ALMOST4x4 in the last CM trip, and as it was my 1st offroad trip, I was really scared and terrified, but after this trip with @Mazaaj I understood the value of being with ALMOST4x4, as @Alok708 mentioned below his story with Zico, he was going back & forth checking all the cars and providing assistance when required, which gave the feeling that everyone is safe and taken care of by the best.
Below are few pictures I took during the trip, also a video for the fossil rock drop, sorry for the drivers who I didn't film due to phone overheating. https://youtu.be/oUCbqAwmZOM
