Seven Shades Darker:

The cancellation of the trip to Liwa for the subject drive came down on us like a hummer. The weather was so bad that the team already in Liwa from the night before had no choice than to cancel the drive and return home.

Thank you alshamsi_m for notifying us on time.

The good news though was that although the drive in Liwa was canceled the organizer decided to not let us disappointed and schedule a drive in Dubai.
The chosen battlefield was the Badayer area.

I love this area i had once the chance to attend an intermediate drive as a passenger so i knew that it will be challenging drive and once it was announced that MCloud is coming then the ticket to success was sealed.

The drivers met early morning at Batayer shops all excited and happy that the drive will happen. The weather was cold and the winds strong.

We complete a very short briefing and we all took off for the drive. With Mcloud on the lead me as second lead and Rashidjass with Scorpio floating while the rest of the convoy fall inline we hit the dunes.

The amazing thing was that as a result of the strong winds the sand had covered all the previous tracks and the desert was track free something that is very difficult to see in this popular area.

The track free area gave the drivers the opportunity to maintain long distance between them without worries of loosing the track and a nice drive flow was accomplished.

The drive was fast with a mix of midsize dunes and as was expected little Mcloud was maneuvering himself in tied spaces making the rest of the drivers struggling to follow.

The convoy over all did very well with only few second tries and minimum radio communication needed.

It was an amazing day on a stormy desert and we all enjoyed it..

Thank you all and see you soon

Hello everyone,

this drive was supposed to take place in Liwa, but due to the weather condition the Liwa trip was cancelled. We met Saturday morning at the Badayer shops instead.
I love the Al Badayer/Al Madam area, beautiful high dunes and bowls to play with, but I started the drive with a high adrenaline level due to some negative experiences in the last drives. TT TT

The first 20 minutes I could barely handle it, my stress level was all over the place and when @Booy asked me if I enjoy the drive I just said "No".

I decided to abort the drive and went back to the shops with @Rashidjass and @rapailo who forgot his phone at the meeting point. beaten

On the way back I calmed down and I realized that if I would leave the drive now, I would probably never do an inter drive again and be scared forever. So I pulled myself together and went back to the convoy. confident!

I needed all my energy to stay focused and not let my fear take over control again.
Slowly I realized that I am able to handle the level and I started to enjoy it. grin

It was definitely not my best performance, some second tries, one wrong side crest - but I learned so much this drive. One of my weaknesses is driving in walls and side slops, the patrol is heavy in the front and tends do pull you down. That is a scary feeling, especially if you experienced a roll over before because you fought gravity.
But you dont have to fight gravity, it just needs a bit of correction and the car stays in the wall - it was a light bulb moment grin

We drove some side crest-bowl-side crest combinations and it was amazing, especially at the end of the drive I enjoyed it so much.
The whole drive was very smooth and we had no incidents - no recovery, no pop outs or broke down cars, only second tries and lost tracks innocent

We finished around 12 at the badayer shops, I was totally finished but super happy, feeling ready now for the next inter drives grin

Thanks everyone for the drive hope to see you all soon in the sand thumbsup

Have a great week ahead have a nice day
BR, Johanna

Hi Almosters!

We had a great intermediate drive in Al Badayer area!

Due to the sand storm there were almost no tracks and very few other cars in the area.

McLoud was at it best, making difficult to be followed by cars with twice it power brigade.baka-wolf.com brigade.baka-wolf.com

We did around 6-7 big dunes, with 60-70km in total, only with a few small stops, in a total of 3.5h.

There were uncountable side crests, slopes, bowls, climbs keeping the rpm between 5-6k... I saw a few good jumps from some drivers... so I believe everyone went home with a full smile and an empty petrol tank.

Hoping to see you all next Friday!

Hello Everyone,

Supposedly, this trip report should have talked about Liwa but due to bad weather conditions in Liwa, the drive was wisely conducted in Badayer and I would like to thanks alshamsi_m for arranging it at the last moment for some hungry people, including me thumbsup .

I don’t remember when was the last time I drove in Badayer which means it has been quite a while. Even though, Bu Salem and Booy had a challenging day in Liwa the previous day but they were there at Badayer for us, much respect and love for them yuush. Rashidjass also surprised us with his presence and it was a truly pleasant one thumbsup . Well, Bu Salem briefed us about the plan of the drive and the warning about the McCloud unpredictable behavior – keep bigger distance as if you get closer and had to slow down on big dunes then you might lose power but the Optimus powered McCloud (if you noticed that it has the Optimus Logo 8-)) will still continue to climb you're kidding, right. There was no convoy sequence told so everyone just placed themselves in the convoy behind Bu Salem, and myself, presa, Booy and RashidJass were at the end of the convoy.

That 1.6cc monster started moving up and down from one chain of big dunes to the other and without any exaggeration, it was not easy to keep pace with it and to follow its exact track. Bu Salem advised all to follow the track so, me and Presa did not float most of the time, except when he or myself happen to spot some nice long crests . The day was cold and windy and badayer did not not appear to be badayer as there were hardly any old tracks and which doubled the fun. During the drive, I heard over the radio that rapailo misplaced his mobile and then he remembered that he might have lost it at Badayer shops so, Rashidjass escorted him out to Badayer shops and Johanna also tagged along. We continued the drive and after sometime they returned and joined back the convoy. Forget to check with Rapailo if he had found back his mobile…

We had quite a few second tries during this drive and that tells a lot about how easy it is to follow the McCloud! Bu Salem took us to the Iftar bowl where we all played for a while and then we hit the Super Bowl. After the Iftar bowl, I started feeling that my wheel steering is not straight anymore and thought that I might be wrong but later when we took a break after Super bowl, I checked to find out that my left wheel spindle is bend :o! The car was drivable and it’s just that I had to adjust to the un-straight steering wheel. Fortunately, the exit was not that far away and we reached back Badayer Shops in less than 30 min.

I don’t remember hitting a ditch that badly in this drive (I do remember in the past though but nothing happened at that time ) that could have caused it but anyways, I have dropped Megatron for some much needed repair and rest – he will be back soon stronger than before yuush. There were couple of other mods that were in my list pending for quite some time and I think I am going to do those as well considering that the car is in garage anyways .

The only bad thing that I might not be able to touch the sand on the coming Friday due to this but you never know if you see me on someone’s passenger seat

Cheers!

Hello Everyone

Al Badyer is the original play ground for our club but since it is busy with many other clubs & Safari companies , we take our members to other areas so we can focus on training them.

It was windy over the weekend so " Offroaders " avoid the desert because it is crazy lll._. but REAL OFFROADERS meta knight will see it as opportunity and will jump in for FRESH DUNES in love .

The dunes were darker color as the name of the drive due to rain. I had two concerns , the size of the edges in some areas were the same height of the car and my overheating problem with this HOT headed boy "MCLoud" on fire .

So I was trying the keep the balance of the intermediate level without overheating the car which I managed successfully at the end of the drive brigade.baka-wolf.com .

All in all it was an awesome day in the desert with good friends and looking forward to drive more with you all.

Till next time stay safe and see you soon

Cheers thumbsup

I can only say that this was one of most enjoyable drives I had in my offloading life. It was so smooth and quick that I could drive like that for days. There were some parts that were little bit challenging but still reasonable.

I would like to say thanks to marshals alshamsi_m Booy Rashidjass for supporting us and still organizing the drive.

At the end we had a good lunch and some shopping in Al Badayer shops as final satisfaction of the day.

i cannot wait for next intermediate drive.
